 I am having fun with old school friends this week so my desk is very quiet.
Just my latest knittie to show you and a few fabric brooches that I found in a box - I made them ages ago and will probably pop them into a charity shop sometime.

Below are a few photos that I took at Shrewsbury Flower Show on Saturday.

I just thought that a splash of glorious colour, that is so uplifting, is what we need today.

I know so many of you are feeling especially sad at the loss of a dear friend. 

I didn't know Janet - other than through her cheery caring comments on my blog but I know from others that she was a treasure - a funny and feisty lady.

So Janet - this little splash of colour is for you.

Like many, I will be trying even harder to make the most of every day and treasuring friends and family more than ever.
So - have a great week everyone and thanks for calling by and leaving your lovely comments. You are a very special bunch and we are so lucky that we have had WOYWW to bring us all together.

Friday smile - It is me isn't it!!

It is me isn't it!!

Do you remember the view of a badger (on a plinth, on the building site) that I posted here?
Well today this caught my eye and straight away I thought "penguin"!

Bonkers, I know, but that's the way my mind works.

Now every time I see this bit of black plastic membrane poking out of the footings that's all I can think of.
It would certainly be a happy penguin today. It is pouring down and the concrete floor looks like a pond. AND  no men in shorts today!

WOYWW

Just a bit late with my WOYWW post today.
I have sewing buddies coming for lunch and a bit of free motion machine embroidery.
My work table is all neat and tidy and ready to go and lunch is all sorted

It's a lovely sunny day and the building site is busy - lots of men in shorts - what more can these girls ask for!

So it's a short sweet post from me today.
Just thought I would post a picture of my latest little knittie now that its finished.

Did you see the meteor shower last night? - I saw a few "shooting stars" - but the sky is very light here in town - nothing like the big black skies at my old house where we didn't have any street lights.

Smile - on Saturday!

There must be some advantages to living on a dusty building site!
It's a beautiful, sunny day here and the swallows are out making the most of it.
As I was mopping - yes MOPPING the dust from my windows, I could hear lots of swallow chatter.

One of the houses opposite has scaffolding up and I stood watching the swallows playing "Tick off pole".
About 20 of them were circling the house and landing on the tops of each pole.
I am guessing many were fledglings building up their skills.
They spent about 10 minutes playing then all of them flew off.

My little video won't do the moment justice but it really was a pleasure to enjoy these beautiful little birds at play.
They will be gone from us all too soon but today they are here and loving it!

Can a needlewoman ever have enough reels of thread?
Here is the little hoard that I found at the car boot sale - 3 little plastic tubs with about 40 reels - some partly used, but still a bargain for £2!
They will be fine for my crafty projects although I tend to use new stuff for my dress making projects.
So that's my desk for today. On Monday it was filled with Maxine's busy book.
She is putting bias binding around each page and it is looking really great. No doubt she will blog it on her Tilly Tea Dance blog later.

This is my latest little knittie.

I used Sirdar Faroe chunky wool to knit a little cardi for autumn days - size 1-2 yrs.
I love the colour combo.

I am also knitting a similar one in lovely blue/green shades of the same random wool.

However, I do get a bit hung up on making both sleeves and both fronts "match" .
Annie and Jan know what I mean. I have been known to almost unravel a whole ball just to get the colour match! Annie and I have laughed ourselves silly trying to get it right. I don't like a totally random look. But I came to the conclusion with the blue shades that there was no real match as each ball was slightly different so I gave up - well, almost!!!

PS - for those of you who left lovely comments about my dancing lessons last week - I am still practising and not quite up to producing the video that several requested!!!! However, the pole is in place and is perfect for the job!
