Today I am showing some lovely little items on my desk.
One of my college friends has a little sewing business in Leamington Spa and as things are at the moment she has been selling her stock online. So I treated myself to these little goodies.
The little cotton reely things are actually heavy pattern weights. I have seen folks using them on "Sewing Bee" and thought they would be really useful. Also I just loved the little rainbow buttons - not sure how I will use them but you can never have enough buttons can you?
This week I have been busy sewing medical gowns for our community NHS.
Our group have dropped off good quality duvets for me to transform.
This one was fun as the front of the duvet was a patchwork design and the reverse was stripey.
I used the stripe for the sleeve as it was only a single duvet, so not enough to do the whole gown in one fabric.
I think I might need to space out the fastening ties a bit further apart as I imagine this one might expose the nether regions but then all medical gowns are designed to do that aren't they?!!!

We are all fine but then we are mostly staying home - just a food shop every 10 days.
All our good wishes to Ellie and Alan. I hope they are both feeling much better soon.
Well - I need to go and write a story for Ben now. He wrote the most amazing story for me this week. All credit to Maxine for doing such a great job of home schooling. He was so proud of himself when he read it to me.

Morning Jo. Exciting new stash there - yes, I've seen those pattern weights - wasn't sure if they were useful or not. I await your thoughts. I understand them being used on the sewing bee - next episode this evening!! - as they have only limited time, but didn't know how really good they were at keeping everything in the right place if it is an intricate pattern.
Loving the gown... most definitely leave the ties where they are - you are right about the nether regions!!

I cut up the identical duvet cover!! (Bet we didn't think we'd be saying that particular sentence at the beginning of the year!) It makes for great gowns, well done you, that'll cheer someone up in hospital for sure. Those rainbow buttons are beautiful, I can see why you fell for them - I would too. Enjoy putting them on something lovely xx

How cool that Ben wrote a story for you Jo. Perhaps you should collaborate on one and take it in turns to write a section. Cool hospital gown. I wouldn't mind wearing it (but not being in hospital). Lovely stash Jo, those fabric weights look so nice I do hope they do the job intended. Your so right about the buttons... you really can not have too many, lovely rainbow design. What a great design those gowns are, you really do make me very proud to know you. Have fun with the story writing & stay very safe.

Here am I congratulating Jan on her sewing and mentioning a couple of other friends and there you are making these delightful outfits for the nhs. I had no idea but they are lovely and I am sure they will be worn with pride and love.
Your little reely things are gorgeous and I can see why you could not resist buying them - love the buttons too - have you something in mind for them?

Jo - you must think I am raving bonkers. I wrote the comment above thinking I was writing on someone else's blog. I know you sew! Oh dear me - what an idiot am I? I wouldn't care, the last post I did was intended for the person I did the above comment for as well, but I did realise it was the wrong one.

Those gowns are amazing, well done. I'm sure if the gowns had a little extra fabric at the back it would cover you up a bit better but I think they expect people to stay in bed so you are not showing that part of your body! and obviously they are easy to remove too. Well done on the gowns and love the colours and pattern combination. I have never heard of pattern weights but now that I see how pretty they are it makes perfect sense. Enjoy sewing up a storm and using the buttons. Stay safe.

Good Morning Jo, Oh I love seeing these weights and your fun buttons, always nice to have a sweet mail package come. You do so good on your volunteer sewing. These gowns are really pretty. More opening and things to do okay'd here but I too won't be rushing out. I don't need much and am content to be home and safe. I miss the 6 grandkids and hoping we can proceed with mother's funeral end of June and all will be here, but who knows at this point. Fun project to share with sweet Ben. Amazing how time flies by and they grow up so fast. Take care may you and yours be safe.
