WOYWW - outdoors!

This week I have been making the most of any sunny weather, so my work table is outdoors on the patio. From here I can enjoy the fresh air and the view of the hills.
I am wet felting some larger background pieces and needed the space to use my bamboo roller blind to felt the wool rovings. Usually I use bubble wrap and a bamboo placemat.
Here are the little background pieces that I made for Annie last week.......

AND I know we have had lots of rain, but why do slugs like to crawl down the outside of my windows?!!

Maybe it's to keep out of reach of this monster which I found by our compost bin.......

AND this ferocious sparrow hawk flew into Annie's glass door - luckily, although stunned, he managed to fly away soon after.

My latest makes are for dressing up boxes...
Katie Morag kilts....
They are only made in polycotton but they look quite realistic I think - even down to the pretend kilt pin ( I didn't think real ones would be safe in a classroom sitiation!!)

Well, that's it for today.
I have a dragonfly picture to "dumf" today but will be round to check out a few WOYWW desks when I need a breather.
Join in the fun over at Julia's Stamping Ground - there are lots of fab desks to visit and so many clever crafty folk out there!!
x Jo

love the little kilts, and I agree - kids and pins are a dangerous combination, we have lovely sunshine today - will go take the dogs for a long meander I think...

Sparrowhawk flew into our conservatory door a few years ago. The sparrow it was chasing sat on one of my plant pots looking at him as if to say 'that'll teach you'.
Thought it was dead as it lay on it's back motionless. Soon moved when I opened the door shovel in hand ha.

Love the felted pieces, looks like either sky or under water. The frog is a real beauty, I bet you don't have too many ugly slugs to worry about! Glad to hear that the sparrowhawk was OK and love the little kilts. Lovely post today Twiglet, Happy WOYWW, Anne x #47

How fantastic having such a huge area to do the wet felting. Bit too ambitious for little old me to try (I am tall and certainly not little but it sounded right). Some gorgeous pictures for us to see, what a lovely view you have and why oh why do the slugs want to climb on your window. Guess we should look that one up.

What an interest post. I love your felting and it always amazes me to see your work. I think this summer there has been lots of different slugs and bugs around. A great picture of the Sparrowhawk too. Hugs Rita xx 123

Wonderful photos here Jo, and I did a little double take at the kilts - as you say, really very realistic.

That beautiful view would inspire any artist. I love what you do with the wool although I am a complete novice. My battle with slugs and snails was always around the rabbit bowl. Apparently they love bran. Fortunately they don't like the Spanish sun! Kate x #94

WOW beautiful view from your patio! I love how green it is over there! We are solid brown now and leaves are falling from drought! The rain must have made Annies windows so clean the hawk thought he had clear sailing. Love the kilts...Vickie #66

What I'd do for a view like that - it's to die for and it must make working out on the patio a real pleasure.

Love the wee kilts - reminds me that my mother made all mine when I was a wee Highland dancer. She also made the rest of the outfit, the white lace trimmed blouse, complete with jabot and the velvet waistcoat with thistle decorated buttons - the only thing she didn't make were my dancing shoes. That was all a lifetime ago.

Happy WOYWW, hope you have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #90

What a fab little kilt there and what a lovely view, you are very lucky but I assume it takes a lot to keep it looking so wonderful. I'm really intrigued by what dumpfing is and I can't seem to find anything on Youtube, is it called anything else? #127

You see, if I had a view like that, nothing would get done at all!! What a lovely place you live in :)
And Slug Cam made me laugh out loud - they have been rampant this year!

Great photo's TFS. We sometimes get a sparrow hawk visit the garden which is lovely but don't like the thought of why she is visiting! I'm always glad when she leaves empty handed!

Definitely the day to be out with all those critters. The kilts are so sweet. Pretend pins are a good idea around kiddies they would be drawn to the real thing like magnets.

Sky Diving Slugs………..Well that’s what it looked like when I first glanced at the picture, Lol.
I’ve had a glut of them in my garden too this year and they are not little ones either. The trouble is that if I don’t see then first and get rid of them BoJangles thinks they are a taste snack……can’t think why.

Love the new Dressing up skirts and what a fab idea to add a faux kilt pin.

Happy Crafting!

Hopefully you'll find a hedgehog to go with all your other wild life and eat all the slugs.
