WOYWW

Well, as Christmas is only a few weeks away, I thought I would let little Chrissie start our post today.

She is about 7 inches tall and has a little hanging loop so she can hang on the tree.
I have been collecting junk beads for legs and arms. You can see some more which I found in the pound shop, on my table below.

My table is a bit of a mess - it's a bit of a dumping area at the moment.
You can see some gorgeous red babycord waiting to be made into a little frock for Lexi. Then there are the little notebooks I bought from the NEC last Thursday. The rest needs sorting and tidying away.

My latest project is spread over the chair back waiting to be finished.
I made two more draught excluders to sell at the craft fair.
We saw some at the NEC and they seemed to be selling quickly so perhaps I am "on trend" for once!!
Can you see angel's legs peeping out from underneath? I am joining in Jo's angel swap so they are waiting for their name labels before I pack them up ready to post.

The belt and packs of beads were some of my car boot sale bargains. I should have enough for my dollies' legs now!!!

Below are the beautitful hand embroidered napkins all freshly laundered and starched ready to be transformed into a crafty item or two.
Well that's all from me for this week.
I will post all my finished bits and bobs on Friday.
So, pop back if you want an early snoop or just scroll down and see what I made last week.
Join in our Wednesday blog hop - pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground and follow Mr Linky!
See you soon!

WOYWW

Another week has flown by and here we are again on What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday checking out what our crafty blog friends are up to. I am sure the lovely Julia would be happy for you to join in, so just pop over to her Stamping Ground and add your name to Mr Linky.

We had a little birthday girl yesterday so I made her a scrapbox fairy for the front of her card - I think she will love her don't you?

I haven't spent much time in my sewing room this week. I seem to have been out and about a bit instead. So, my work table has been a dumping ground for all the bits and bobs that I have been busy with in the evenings.
AND here is where I spent my creative time in front of the TV with boxes of crafty bits, creating little scrapbox dollies. I will show more on my "Finished by Friday" post, so pop back and have a look. They are all so cute!!

I use beads for the dollies arms and legs. Maxine and I have quite a stash between us, but these were a bargain from our local car boot. Glass ones and wooden ones - perfect!!
I will be making dollies in blue and purple next week!!

Short and sweet today.
Thanks for calling in and leaving such kind and friendly comments.
x Jo

WOYWW for 2012

Good morning all and a very Happy New Year to you!
So that was Christmas then - didn't it just fly by.

We had a quiet time - unlike Wipso, who didn't know where she would be from one day to the next - bless her. Of course Santa came and left me lots of lovely parcels. He seems to know me well and always leaves really useful crafty items!

On my desk are the fab boxes he left - just perfect to fill with beads and buttons, so I have done just that.
He also left a beautiful crafty book with some great ideas for things to make.
Thanks to all who organised Santa so brilliantly - you know who you are!!!

The bright pink knitting will be a little hoodie for twinnie L - its so warm and cosy - I think she will love it.

Here's hoping you all have a wonderful, crafty and creative 2012 - looking forward to seeing what you all get up to.

Now over to Julia's Stamping Ground to join in the blog hop.

Thanks for calling. x Jo

Things to do on WOYWW.

Just a few things on my table that need sorting or thinking about today but first I am cutting out curtains down at Wipso's so this is just a quickie.
Lets go left to right.......
Coaster - very appropriate slogan.
"Bags that rock" book for ideas on knitted/felted bags.
Dish of tiny beads that M gave me for Mother's day waiting to be sorted into colours.
"Crazy Felt" book - and the twirly piece of pink crazy felt I made on funday Monday. Was thinking of making several and joining them to make a funky belt - if not it will be another coaster!!!
My latest dumfed cards - poppies. I made one for a friends 40th and she was thrilled, so I think I might keep these for other special occasions - unless I get requests for some for the blog shop.
Now I must dash so will probably pop over to see what you are all up to with Mr Linky later!!!
Special wishes to blog friend Paula - we are all thinking of you and wishing you a very speedy recovery!

Waste not want not - upcycled sweater creations!

I still have a stash of felted sweaters that need upcycling. They sit in a bag for life and occasionally call to me from the corner of my sewing room!

Today was one of those days.

So out came the pale turquoise, embroidered sweater by Jackpot.

I have already made a little lined bag using one of the sleeves.

Today I used a little of the other sleeve to make a phone cosy.

Wipso said her phone is not out of use long enough to need a cosy but some folk like to pop their phone/camera or ipod into a little pouch when carrying it round.

So with a bit of ingenuity, I made a little cosy using the cuff from the sleeve for a turn over top.

Its lined with bright pink cotton fabric and looks rather cute, I think.

Then, of course there was just enough left to make a little heart-shaped "dumfling".

Its now a little brooch, embellished with silk, wool and beads.

Now I was on a roll, so out came a scrap from the tweedy blue/grey sweater that I had used for another bag, now in the blog shop. I dumfed an oblong piece with silk and wool and then beaded it up.

How's that for upcycling?
I will probably pop them in the blog shop later - if Wipso will allow it!!!

WOYWW

Whats on my desk today? A total mess!

Wipso and I sat with my daughter M crafting whilst the men were at football.

We laughed non stop for nearly two hours and during this time M beaded up the tiny "dumflings" she had made earlier.

When I came home, I scattered them over my table so that the glue would dry, now that some are mounted on cards. Thats what you can see in my photo.

M has always loved joining in our crafting sessions - she has a great eye for colour and texture and really enjoyed using the embellisher to create these delicate little scraps of wool, silk, lace and yarn.

I am under strict instructions as to which colour/type of card to mount them on so will be busy doing just that today. Then I will bag them up, ready for the blog shop.

Thanks Wipso for all the hilarity last night - I would share it with you all but it was just too silly and possibly too rude for this blogspot!!

Have a great day. Think I should pop over to Julia and the rest of the WOYWW bunch now before I get busy.
PS
Julia asked how big these little dumflings are.
Well they vary but I suppose between 2" and 3" long and 1" and 2" wide.
At the moment they are just card toppers but we might make a few of them into little brooches.
Julia thought they would make nice additions to bridal bits and bobs.
If anyone wants these little dumflings then contact us via the blog shop.
Thanks for the comment Julia - food for thought!!!

20 minutes for Valentine's day

Just a quick show and tell because I am going to pop my little project for this week in the blog shop.

I love the idea of dipping into my fabric/yarn stash, choosing colours that I love and creating a little something.
So, my 20 minutes this week have been spent making Valentine's cards.

I used my embellisher to combine yarns, silk and felt and then added beads, bows and a few hand stitches to finish the little hearts off.

My cards were plain white, embossed with a dotty flower pattern. They have a white page inside and a slightly pearly envelope.
I used a stamp pad to highlight the embossing on the envelope in a colour to match the hearts.

I am nipping over now to add them to the cards shelf at Sisters Crafty Creations.

Time indoors well spent?

As I watched Andy Murray do his best against the amazing Roger Federer, the snow fell in huge flakes from a leaden grey sky. Yet again, the hills are white over, as are the minor roads. A lethal coating of ice lurks beneath!

So, I have taken the opportunity to finish off one or two little crafty projects started last week.
My little decorated notebook covers were very popular at Christmas, so I have made a few more, which will be added to our blog shop shelves as soon as I can get together with Wipso.

This is one of my favourites, made with felted yarns and silk and embellished with beads, including a tiny heart bead.

I have also free machined my little silk paintings and mounted them in cards. I love the effect and will probably make a few more this week.

I know Wipso has been busy too, so pop over to the shop and check out her gorgeous poppy picture! You can enter our Gift Draw whilst you are there too!

Little felted notebook covers

Now that everyone will have had their little handmade Christmas gifts, I can blog a few of them, so that you can see what has kept me out of mischief over the last few weeks!

The little book covers are needle felted using my embellishing machine. I worked yarn, threads and dyed silk onto an oblong of felt.

Once I was happy with the picture, I added a few beads to complete each one.

They are simply glued onto the front of a little notepad.
I added a little poem of my own to the inside page just for fun!
