WOYWW - another rainbow?

Welcome to my table lit by the late evening sunshine!
I can't show you much of what I have been up to this week - secret little items for a certain wedding that is happening soon. Some are actually hiding under the heap in the middle of the table. I will reveal all next week.
So what is out for you to snoop today...
  • Tiny collages trying my free machining skills on faces - cute little dolly pics which I might put onto little book fronts or cards (I found the idea on a fab blog - Flutterby Patch)
  • Heaped in the centre are the hand embroidered vintage napkins I found at the car boot sale. I think I will make some lavender bags with them or maybe some vintage bunting.
  • The woolly stuff is gorgeous ginger hair coloured tapestry wool from the same car boot sale. My brand new little teacher niece to be asked me to make her a Katie Morag dolly ready for her class in September - how could an old infants teacher like me refuse!
  • Next to the wool is my latest little poppy dumfling. Shaz in Oz is hoping hers will arrive soon - along with a very tired little owl no doubt!
  • Lots of crafty clutter around from other card making and sewing activities.

AND ......

What do you think of this?
A lovely lady at the car boot sale sold me a big bag of chiffon scarves - I really only wanted a couple but the offer was too good to miss and I use lots of chiffon when I am dumfing pictures and brooches.
I popped them all in the washer and the couldn't resist pegging them up on my line like a rainbow.
Now, the question is.......

How many scarves were in the bag?
They are all there on the line.

I will send my little poppy dumfling to the one who guesses the right number or nearest to it.
(Annie - Wipso - You can't enter cos you know already - but that means you can make sure I don't cheat!!)
Have a great sunny week everyone - enjoy everything Olympic over the weekend.
I am late posting today so I had better nip over to Julia quickly and join in the fun!

Dumfing workshop.

Saturday was dumfing day!!
When M came home to see her Dad for Father's Day we had time for an hour or two in the sewing room.
She loves to craft with me and uses it as a good stress buster.
Having seen my poppy picture (last pic on this post), she decided she wanted to make some.

She had already made the tiny dumflings in the picture but fancied a different style.
So with a little direction from the one who knows......
She made the 3 gorgeous little poppy dumflings in the front of the pic above.
They are made with wool rovings and yarn, dumfed with the needle felting machine into felt.
Then the detail is added with free machining and beads.
Here she is at the sewing machine..

And here are my little poppies that I made earlier.

It was just lovely to spend time together and share a crafty session.
She went home happy, with a box of baking that we made for a fund raiser for the charity she works for and her 3 little dumflings.
I just cleared up the mess and then carried on where I left off......... pop back tomorrow to see a few more dumflings.

Thanks for calling by.

WOYWW - mermaids and more!

Good morning to all - especially the WOYWW ers.
My table has an assortment of "stuff" today as I have had a busy few days of crafting and plotting and planning!!

First and foremost is the gorgeous wedding anniversary card made for me by Wipso. She was my bridesmaid all those years ago - of course- and always makes me a special card.

At the front, you can see my latest little dumflings. One is hidden, as it is for a special person who is not to well at the mo, so I will reveal that pic next time, once she has received it.

The 3 little dumflings are tiny moorland landscapes - I just fancied making something different for a change. I used yarn to dumf the background and then beads and hand stitching for the foreground.
The massive heap of fabric and brown paper pattern will eventually become a mermaids tail - well of course - what else could it be?!!!!! Just another little challenge for me. I will give it my best shot and will probably be modelling it in my next post....lol!
My box of lacey bits and bobs is still waiting to be investigated. We have sent off our little gifts to the three bloggers who sent us some great ideas for our bridal department. I hope they arrive
safely - one even had to go to the USA, so may take a little longer!!
Here are my finished, little poppy pics. The lovely Paula (more about her in a minute) suggested I mount them with a tiny black edge to set them off nicely. Of course she was absolutely right and they look really snazzy don't they?!!

And Paula.....
Well what a treasure. We had such a lovely day with her and her family at Wipso's. Poor girl has had major surgery and was still in a lot of pain and discomfort, yet her sense of humour and cheery disposition shone through. We hope to see more of her ( although to be honest, she showed us quite a bit!! - that scar - WOW!) in the future and I am sure we could find some nice crafty venues where we could meet up. Hope you are feeling much more comfortable, this week, Paula.
So, firstly I am going to cut out and sew my mermaid outfit and then I shall be nipping over to Julia's blog to see what everyone else has been doing this week.

Thanks for popping by, you friendly folk - don't forget to check out the new additions to our blog shop. I loaded up the gift shelf and Wipso tidied it up for me!!!

Latest challenge!

The daffodils are out and the poppies will follow!!!
Today I have mostly been dumfing.

I had a request for more poppy cards to go in the blog shop so I have been dumfing away all day creating 2 new sets.

Above the half finished poppies, you can see the little daffodils that are nearly ready for my Easter cards. I like to send cards to my friends up in the North - and they love our crafty stuff.

There you go - its been drab and gloomy outside but my house is full of Spring!

M. bought me a pot of hyacinths for Mothers Day and they are in full bloom and the scent is wonderful. ( Wipso - wear your gas mask if you drop in !)

Will blog a pic tomorrow - pity we don't have smelly vision.

PS Poppy cards now in the shop so pop over to Sisters Crafty Creations for a look.

While you're there you might like to leave an idea or two on our wedding challenge page.

Thanks for calling!

Things to do on WOYWW.

Just a few things on my table that need sorting or thinking about today but first I am cutting out curtains down at Wipso's so this is just a quickie.
Lets go left to right.......
Coaster - very appropriate slogan.
"Bags that rock" book for ideas on knitted/felted bags.
Dish of tiny beads that M gave me for Mother's day waiting to be sorted into colours.
"Crazy Felt" book - and the twirly piece of pink crazy felt I made on funday Monday. Was thinking of making several and joining them to make a funky belt - if not it will be another coaster!!!
My latest dumfed cards - poppies. I made one for a friends 40th and she was thrilled, so I think I might keep these for other special occasions - unless I get requests for some for the blog shop.
Now I must dash so will probably pop over to see what you are all up to with Mr Linky later!!!
Special wishes to blog friend Paula - we are all thinking of you and wishing you a very speedy recovery!
