WOYWW - more dumfing fun!

What does a person do when their little playmate is on holiday in the sun?
This week I have my sewing room to myself so I got down to some serious dumfing!!
Well, wet felting first of course to create a woolly background.
Here is the one I started last week - I think I will save this for Maxine to embellish.

AND here is the one I had fun in experimenting with.

This is it with some free machine embroidery added.

One of our greatest sources of inspiration is Marmaladerose.
She makes the most amazing felted pictures and I just wanted to have a go at something different to my usual thing. We usually embellish on top of the background piece whereas Marmaladerose puts most of the detail into her wet felting. It is totally stunning and I can only imagine how tricky it is. Pop over and see what she does.

I hope you have been able to enjoy the late September sunshine. It's been glorious here for the last week.
Well, I will get back to my dumfing.

Have a great week.
Thanks for calling by and joining in with the WOYWW fun!.

Friday smile

Just one of my photos from my favourite picture file to share with you today.
It was just a tiny pool surrounded by trees but I loved the way they were reflected in the water.
It is on Howden marsh in East Yorkshire.
I saw a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker there too!

Enjoy the lovely weather this weekend.

WOYWW - dumfing!

Good morning fellow WOYWWers!
AND how are we all today? Well, I hope.

Today I am in the mood for dumfing.
I dipped into my bags of gorgeous wool rovings and set out the "fluff" for a piece of wet felting.
This will become the background to one of our needle felted (dumfed) pictures.
It's a wet job so I should really be doing it in the kitchen but the bright sunshine was beaming through my sewing room window so I thought I would tackle it here where all my bags of rovings are stored.

The two little poppy pictures are ones that Maxine made earlier using another of my dumfed background pieces. She is hoping to get a good stock of pictures finished ready for the Christmas rush!!

You will have to pop back next week and see what has become of the latest wet felted piece as I doubt I will have time to do it and take a photo for this post.

Just in case you have no idea what I am talking about - here are a few we made earlier....

Well that's it for this week.
No doubt Maxine will be blogging (Tilly Tea Dance) about our happy birthday party for Ben who is now one. It was a really lovely "sunny day in the garden" sort of party - we were so lucky with the weather.

Have a great week.
Thanks for calling by.

WOYWW

Well for the first time in a few weeks now, I have had a crafty day at my sewing machine.
About time, I hear you say!!
So, at last, I have something of my own to share with the WOYWW crafters.

Well of course I have been chief advisor whilst Max has been busy here, but it's not the same as playing at my machine myself. So, on Monday, I made a banner for Ben's 1st birthday.
We are having a little tea party for his little buddies so I decided a banner by the front door, to let folks know where we are, would be a good idea.

The theme of course is the "Hungry Caterpillar".....

Then, I got all the bits and bobs together again to make his birthday card...

AND out of the chaos came...

Don't tell him it's here - it's not his birthday till next week!

I hope you are well and keep dry and safe with all the wild weather predicted.

The sun is beaming through my window as I type this.

Have a great week and thanks for calling by.

Friday smile

Note to self...

Don't press the red "Remove dust collector" button instead of the red "Off" button on your Dyson before attempting to carry it down the stairs!!.........
Hence, it bounced down the stairs and crashed, bursting open and depositing its entire contents across my hall floor. There might have been uttered a word or two - you know... oh dear or blimey!!

On the bright side and a credit to dear old Dyson - nothing was broken and it was soon sorted.

Below are the blueberry and lemon cheesecake topped buns that I made yesterday. I used a gluten free sponge mix for the first time and they are really quite good. Now that did put a smile on my face!
Help yourself to one - they are perfect with a cup of tea or your morning coffee.

The sun is shining, I am nipping round to see Annie's new sewing room later so plenty of smiles here.
Have a great weekend.

WOYWW

 Good morning all.
Just a few bits and bobs for you to look at today.
My own crafting activities have been shelved for a while.
I will soon get back into the swing of things once I have the chance.
On my desk is the gorgeous little Bobble and Squeak hat my friend made for Ben.
It fits a treat and is so snuggly and cosy.
Just above it , you can see some lovely purple and yellow wool rovings that I bought for Maxine to make her needle-felted pansy pics with.
Here is one she made earlier..
AND
Here is my little finished cardi that I made for Ben. He loves the little sheep buttons!

Short and sweet today.
I hope you are all well.
I know many of you will be thinking of Shaz and we are sending her our positive WOYWW vibes and lots of love and good wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for calling by.

Friday smile

Just a little splash of colour in my garden.....

The gorgeous peachy rose came from Annie's old garden but was originally in my godmother's garden so is always known as Aunty Lily's rose. I don't know its proper name but it is a really beautiful old rose with a delicate perfume. It always makes me smile to think of the special family members who have tended it over the years. Thanks Annie!

Have a great weekend.

WOYWW

I have had a lazy few days and not much crafting by me has gone on at my table this week.
Maxine, on the other hand, has been busy dumfing away and creating some gorgeous needle felted pictures to put in one of the galleries in town. She will post them on her Tilly Tea Dance blog if time allows.

Dumfer at the ready for today's session!

So, my main activity has been playing with Ben - such a joy. He is growing fast and learning all sorts of new skills. He can now walk along behind his new brick truck walker and is so proud of himself. What a lovely age! I can see that I will be running to keep up with him soon - great fun!

My workspace for today!

My other news is that one of my Yorkshire friends has just set up a little business making beautiful knitted hats. She has called it   " Bobble & Squeak"

Pop over and check it out - they look so cosy!

So that's it for another WOYWW - the weeks are flying by - I can't believe we are in September already.

Thanks for calling by - I shall look forward to snooping round a few desks later.

Have a great week.
