My next project and WOYWW.

I quite like the photo of my table today. By accident, it is colour co-ordinated with the projects of the week.

You can see the little photo frame I made on Friday. It has silk flowers and leaves free machined over felt, wool and yarns. I think Wipso has already popped it in the blog shop.

If you look to the right you can see a little paper rose that I made following Paula's brilliant tutorial. I think I need lots more practice, but now I know how to do it I shall try again. Wipso and I certainly had a giggle on fun day Monday as we sat making our first ones.

In the cenrte of the photo, you can see my next project. I chopped up my table cloth and I am going to combine that gorgeous wool/ribbon yarn and the flowers with free machining to make another photo frame. Its all a bit experimental but then so is everything I do. I never make the same thing twice. - Unless of course its knitting......

This week I have been mostly knitting for my great niece and her sister to be. I finished a gorgeous little cardy in Crofter wool - pinks and lilacs and then I have made 2 little shrugs. This is the tiny one for the baby due next month. P. is16 months now and loves her little shrugs, so I just keep making the pattern a bit bigger each time.
Well thats my table for today.
I am popping over to Julia's blog to see what everyone else is up to but first I have to clean my windows! I have a friendly window cleaner who cleans the outside but the inside is down to me and not my favourite job. The exercise will do me good!!

Unravelling my WOYWW!

Today my work desk has been cleared and room tidied. I am having a break from sewing and "dumfing". This week I have been knitting. It all started really well. I made two gorgeous litle lilac shrugs for my great niece and her baby sister who should arrive mid April.

Then we had our visist to Much Wenlock ( see previous blog) and I bought a great little pattern and wool.

I decided to practise the pattern with remnants and knit the smallest size for the new babe.

Now, I can knit but I am not a brilliant knitter and fancy stuff takes a little while for me to master! The frilly bit on the bottom of this cardy was unravelled 4 times on Sunday!!!

Eventually it dawned on me that, if I start on a sleeve and master the pattern there - then I would only be unravelling 35 stitches instead of 122. I know! Common sense! Planning and forethought and all that!!! I just assumed I would be able to do it and then got frustrated when I couldn't, so common sense went out of the window.

Well, as you can see, I have managed it. It needs the final touches and I think it will be lovely.
The wool on the right is Crofter. I am planning to use that next.

Having just read Wipso's blog and seen all her neat and tidy shelves I thought I would swing round and show you one of mine. Nowhere near as organised as Wipso but I know where everything is so thats OK.

Now I am going to sort out a couple of extra prizes to add to our ever growing giveaway. Don't forget to join in - this week is the last week.
Oh and I will pop over and see what Julia and the rest have on their WOYWW.
Have a great day!

My latest rainy day activity.

A super little parcel came through the post yesterday from Amazon. A snip at £7!!

It's called 100 flowers to knit and crochet by Lesley Stanfield

It is a beautifully illustrated book and is just a joy to thumb through. As its title says, 100 gorgeous little flowers and even minibeasts and fruit and veg. with photos and instructions on how to make them.

Now I can knit and crochet so I hope at least some of them are within my limited capabilities.

I have scrounged wool oddments from my sewing sister so I am all set up ready to go.

Mmm now my main problem, speaking as a Libran here, is which one do I choose first.....

Knitting for aids orphans in South Africa

I blame the internet blog sites - If a blog has a link to a site that interests me, then I have to follow the link.
Last week I was a guest visiting http://www.purplecoo.co.uk/ and the topic was knitting. Someone had added this link http://www.knit-a-square.com/ so off I went to investigate.

I have lots of oddments of wool, so this week I used the hat pattern on that site and knitted these little ones for aids orphan babies. Now all I have to do is parcel them up and post them.
I hope they get there ok and that 3 little ones can be warmer and cosier.
I might use the rest of my scraps for blanket squares next.
