WOYWW - dolly bags!

Good morning all!!
Well today you can enjoy a tidy table with my little scrapbox dollies and the lucky few who have been chosen to go in my new bags.
I decided to use up some of my felted wool jumpers to make little girls' bags with a tiny pocket on the side - just big enough to hold one of my dollies.
The rest of the dollies are waiting patiently in their basket.

Here are some close-ups.

Cute!

I will pop them in our blog shop - Sisters Crafty Creations - if I manage to sell them, I shall buy some nice fleecy fabric to back the quilt I am going to make for the scheme Jo has set up  Lillybo Quilts. A lovely idea and one I am sure Annie and I will enjoy supporting.

Have a good week.
Join in our blog hop with Julia in her Stamping Ground they are such a great bunch.

WOYWW - lots of woolliness!!

Good morning all.
With a bit of luck this will upload all by itself and I can head down to Wipso's to enjoy - fun day Wednesday.
(We had a fun day Monday but with no crafting as we were baby sitting for P and L. - what fun!!!)
So, I am leaving you a pic of my desk as it was Tuesday.
Having finished my little bag that I blogged about last week, I tipped out all my felted woolly jumpers in an effort to gain some creative inspiration!! I love the finished crochet bag (on the left) and its now in the blog shop.
I want to make a few funky little bags with the woollies. One of the turquoise jumpers is already minus a cuff as I chopped it off to make a dress for P's little favourite cuddly Bagpus - " Meow".
I have a few ideas for little shoulder bags with lots of bold hand stitching, big buttons and brooches so watch this space!!

For all the card makers out there..... Here is my latest offering!  We have a golden wedding party to attend at the weekend so I have had the old machine out to make a little card. The silk flowers are free machined onto satin with gold lurex thread and then the centre is beaded with tiny golden beads.
Now, I am packing my bag ready for my trip to Wipso's........
Hopefully, I will have time to visit lots more WOYWWers today - you are such a lovely bunch - I do enjoy my Wednesday snoop! If you want to join in, then nip over to Julia's blog and check out the 130+ blogggers who share their workdesk every week.

What's on your workdesk Wednesday!

Well Wipso has been doing it for ages so I thought it was high time that I joined in.

This is my workdesk today.

Over the last few months I have been collecting a stash of woollen clothes and have felted them ready to "upcycle".

Some were from my own wardrobe and some from charity shops. My daughter even wrapped three lovely ones as a pressie from Santa!

I have been checking out lots of websites and blogs to see what other folks do to recycle woollen items and there are some super ideas out there.

So they are stacked on my table along with my embellisher, which will be used to beautify my pieces before I make any items with them.
I made a little bag with the sleeve of one jumper before Christmas and you can see it here
Any ideas or suggestions welcome!

Recycling for fun!

We all have mad moments and make purchases on impulse now and again!

Having checked out a few of the multitude of charity shops in Shrewsbury I came across this well loved, little sweater. I looked at it on the rail and deliberated, then I put it back where I found it and roamed around the shop. The pretty colour and its cheery embroidery seemed to call to me so that, as I walked towards the door, I found myself lifting it from the rail and paying for it.
Having arrived home with my little bargain, I then had to decide what to do with it. I trawled the web and found lots of websites for using recycled sweaters. Suggestions included; bags, purses, hats, leg warmers, brooches and many more.
I followed the instructions on felting sweaters and washed it a couple of times on a hot wash. The result was a tiny, well felted woolly sweater which I cut up into front, back and two sleeves. As I had never sewn with a felted sweater before, I decided to use one of the sleeves first. At least if I ruined that, then all was not lost!!

So, using the embroidered area, I cut out the front and then used the top of the sleeve for the back of a little bag. I used the rib from the neckband for the top of the bag, adding a button and button hole. The strap is a twisted, felted length of wool. I lined it with bright pink cotton fabric.

The result - well make your own mind up - I think its cute!
