WOYWW

Happy Wednesday all!
I have to take my car into the garage this morning so I am quickly posting a few pics to share with my WOYWW buddies (and anyone else who pops in to see what is keeping me out of mischief this week!)

I finished off my little chick/chicken finger bobs for Ben and then hid them ready for him to find them when he called yesterday. He kept two here and took two home to play with.

In my crafting time, when I have my sewing room to myself, I have been busy with a little project that is nearly finished but I will be sharing it a bit later in the year! Or maybe just a taster pic for you....

At other times Tilly Tea Dance has been beetling away on my table making and mounting more of her gorgeous dumfling pics. Apparently the shops that she has placed them in, are rapidly selling out!

Of course with the dumfing (needle felting) comes the need to restock our rovings.
Just look at this heap of fluffy gorgeousness that I ordered from Sara's Textures.

Sara is brilliant - she created just what we wanted by dyeing or blending yarn specially for us.
It is a blend of wool and silk and will dumf most beautifully I am sure.

And lastly here are my latest Twiddlemuffs - all finished and ready to go to Shrewsbury hospital.

Well that's all I have time for. I hope you enjoyed a peek at all my crafty bits and bobs!

I hope I can get round a few desks this week for a good snoop.
Meanwhile, thanks for calling.
See you soon.

WOYWW - a little dumfling update

Happy Wednesday everyone!!
What a wonderful weekend of jubilee celebrations it has been - I hope you have all enjoyed it.
AND - what fun WOYWW was last week.
Thanks to all who visited my blog and especially a big thank you to those who joined in the ATC swapping fun!

Due to popular demand I spent a day making a few more.......

Some of my ATC dumflings, that I posted on Thursday, have already reached USA, Canada AND Australia!! So dumfing has officially gone global!!!

However - lots of you wanted to know what it is and how I did it.
So I took a few snaps as I went along this week.

Here is my piece of green pre-felt from Sara of www.SarasTextureCrafts.com
I have used my needle felting machine to attach yarns and wool rovings for the foliage.

Now I have added some bright petal coloured wool roving for the flowers.

Then I use dark thread to free machine the detail into the flower shapes and foliage.
I put some firm vilene on the back and zig-zagged round each one to make them ATC size.
That's it!!!
Here are a few fuschia ones....

My daughter M had a brilliant idea to help pay off her mortgage....

She thinks if I make thousands of little dumflings and sell them at £1 each then she will be debt free in no time!! Something didn't quite add up to me  ...
I make - she sells - her mortgage is cleared mmm!

I wonder what Alan Sugar would make of that as a business proposition!!

Hope you have enjoyed my little dumfing class - do email if you want to know more.
Now let's pop over and see if Julia our WOYWW queen enjoyed her anniversary celebrations too.
Have a great week .

Wonderwool Wales - fun day!

We don't often go off adventuring, but yesterday we were on the road by 9am!

Wipso and I tuned the satnav to "Royal Welsh Showground" Builth Wells and set off.

I wanted to head off via Clun and Knighton and my satnav immediately told me to do a U-turn as she had planned my route via Newtown!! Needless to say I ignored her and off we went.

Eventually the satnav caught up and we had a delightful run along quiet country roads. Its a wonderful time of the year to ride steadily past fields, scattered with sheep and tiny lambs and enjoy the hedgerows, just turning green and decorated with primroses, cowslips, anemones, lady's smock and violets. Overhead the buzzards were circling and as we reached Builth Wells a red kite soared, just above the car, pointing the way to the showground!

We were ushered to a parking space, only to find that we were as far away from the event as we could possibly be and had a very long walk to the venue - not good for a wobbly knee - but we made it.

Wonderwool Wales is a festival of wool and natural fibres. The halls were packed with trade stands and demonstrators linked to everything woolly!

Our first call was to see Sara's Texture Crafts and meet our blogger friend Sara. We spent quite a while choosing some gorgeous wool rovings for our textile work and filled a bag with some of Sara's fab blends and colours. It was lovely to meet her and she very kindly stored our bag until we were ready to leave.

The rest of the day was just a delight, spent checking out all the goodies on each stall.

We bought some silk velvet from Oliver Twists and on the right are some dyed pre-felt pieces.

These colourful curls came from The Threshing Barn.

There were lots of spinners and weavers busily working and some amazing creative work from a wide variety of different textile artists. We gleaned a few ideas for crafty activities and had lots of giggles as we moved around the halls, ending up with such busy heads from all the fab stuff we had seen.

To complete our day, we journeyed back via Newtown and shared out our gorgeous goodies.
Thanks Wipso for being great company and sharing in our fun day.
We are so lucky to enjoy the same hobbies and interests.

Watch this space to see what we make with all our purchases.
