Saturday smiles

Good morning all - this is my Friday smile, a day late!
Above is the glorious view from my back garden yesterday. Sadly it won't be my  view for much longer but here is the good news... the house is sold!
So, at last, we can empty the house and get properly organised here in town.
We will really miss the views as we have nothing like that here. However, the folks buying it love it as much as we do, so that's good. We can always go back up there for walks and to breathe the fresh country air whenever we want to.

Below are the lovely flowers given to me for my birthday.
Maxine bought the blues and creams which look perfect on my lounge window.

My niece bought the hot reds and oranges and sunny yellows - so cheery and bright.
I hope that has brightened your day and made you smile.
Have a good weekend.
Thanks for calling by.

Friday smile

Just how I like to see snow - from the inside, where I am warm and cosy, looking out on a beautiful blue sky and snow capped Shropshire/Welsh border hills!

Have a good weekend.
Join Annie for more smiles and a giggle or two over on her "A stitch in time" blog.

WOYWW

Such loveliness to share on my WOYWW post today!....

On the right you can see the most beautiful and clever card and ATCs sent to Annie and me from Fiona -  "Staring at the sea"
The card has a clever, little moving windmill which is weighted and moves along as you open/close the card. The ATCs have little snowstorm fronts that sprinkle sequins in front of a birthday cake with five candles - brilliant!
Thanks Fiona - I wll pass Annie's back to her once she has moved house - fingers still crossed here! See Annie's blog for latest updates.

The other bits on my table are just the tiny poppy dumfling I found after we had cleared all our stuff from the exhibition and also a little crocheted/lacey flower I am mending. It was attached to a little woolly heart but moths ate the wool!

And - especially to brighten everyone's day.......
This was the most glorious rainbow that appeared late yesterday afternoon.
If you click on it, you might see that not only was it a double rainbow but below the bright one is an extra band of ultra violet.
I think it is amazing. The little hill beneath it is called Roundton and used to be a hill fort in the past. I often wonder what folks made of rainbows before they understood the science behind them.
Maybe, like us, they just know that it means "all will be well".

Have a great week everyone and thanks for calling by.

Friday smile

It's a lovely bright Friday here today so I just took a quick photo from my kitchen door.

That blue sky is such a welcome sight after the gloomy grey days of Winter.
It's the first day of Spring today.
March 21st was my Grandma's birthday.
We have such fond memories of a dear old lady who lived to be nearly 101.
She was the one with the talent for needlework that Annie and I inherited.
A bright little button with a sharp mind and skillful nimble fingers. She made nighties and dresses for us well into her 80s and 90s!

AND below...
A much better photo of the Redpoll.
The male is on the right and below on the left, I think, it's the female.
They arrived on my nyger seed feeder just as I took the photo of the hills.

Have a great weekend everyone and if you want to join in with Friday smiles pop over to Annie's "A stitch in time" blog and cheer her up as she is feeling poorly this week.
