WOYWW

Last week I promised you some of my knitting - well these little snowmen are waiting to go off to a friend's charity donation.

I think she is filling them with sweets and a poem and handing them out as little gifts to folk in hospital over Christmas. A lovely idea as I am sure there will be many who can't even have visitors over Christmas and these might give them a smile.

Below is the fuchsia fest that is in my garden at the moment.

They will all be gone with the first frosts but just now they are glorious.

This one below is  "Tom Thumb" - still going strong Jan!

And lastly just a little bit of crafty activity from the craft room....

I made a few more lavender bags (still trying to use up that 500g bag of lavender!)

And..... having found a nice piece of navy fleece in my stash, I decided to make a snuggly throw to go on the end of Ben's bed. I trimmed it with lime green fleece to match his feature wall and cut out a few motifs from his left over blind fabric. He was thrilled with it.

Never a dull moment here.

I just wish I could get together with my crafty buddies a bit more but we are all trying to be so careful as the virus is slowly picking up - even here in rural Shropshire.

Well that's it for this week

I hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.

WOYWW

Max wanted a few lavender bags to put amongst her yarn and roving bags - smells nice and keeps the moths away.

So, I treated us to a 500g bag of Cotswold lavender. The bag duly arrived and I must admit I went for value for money without really thinking how much 500g of lavender would be!

Now I have an ample supply to fill about 50 little bags.
Here are a few that I quickly made yesterday.
I spread them out on some pretty table linen - crochet, lace and broiderie anglais.
My room smelt lovely.

Needless to say, I have plenty left so I will make a few more later in the week and pop some in my drawers. ( Now then LLJ - don't spray your coffee all over your desk again!)

If anyone would like a few lavender bags leave a comment and I will delve into my fabric stash and see what I can do.

My sewing room is out of action until the workmen have put a new window in but I should be able to put it straight on Friday and get going again.

Have a great week.

WOYWW

Today -  to counteract the wonderful country aroma left by the muck spreaders - I have been mostly making lavender bags!!

Just sneaking into my photo is that little green card and a beautiful little brooch that Neet made for me using polymer clay. I love it and think it is such a clever way to use clay. Annie and I are still pondering how you did it Neet!!!

Here is a close-up of the lavender bags.
I used a well worn, vintage, handmade, fine lawn pillow case to make my little lavender outer bags.
It was so lovely that I didn't really want to cut it up. It even had entwined intials sewn beautifully onto one end. Sadly it had seen better days and rather than let it remain hidden in a drawer I decided to give it another life and make little bags stuffed with wonderfully scented Shropshire lavender.

The little inner sachets were made using left over scraps from some voile curtaining.

The other lavender sacks are also made from cotton remants with some hand embroidery from a vintage tablecloth.

I love to re-cycle and hate to throw things out and at least something useful is the outcome of a little afternoon of sewing.

AND lastly......

This is what you can make with a double duvet set and a quick raid into my fabric stash!!

Can you spot
  1. a single duvet
  2. 2 pillow cases
  3. a set of underbed top secret curtains
  4. a cushion cover
  5. a chair seat pad
  6. a useful shoulder bag
  7. a note book cover
Oh and a very happy little boy - but he's not in my picture - I will let Caro show you Alex's lovely smiley photo!

That's it for this week.
Thanks for calling by - I will be over to see your WOYWW desk soon - as long as we don't get a power cut or broadband signal reduction!

Have a good week.

Lavender gift set

I just had a mad half hour putting a few of our crafty bits and bobs on ebay so I thought I would put the pretty lavender bag collection on here to show you.

Pretty isn't it.

This how I described it for ebay so you can see what is in it.
3 handmade lavender bags made with vintage fabrics and trimmed with embroidery and buttons
AND a Natroma handmade organic goat’s milk lavender soap

Filled with lavender from the Shropshire Lavender company

All contained in a fabric gift holder which can be used as a desk tidy or to hold “bits and bobs” on a dressing table

We have a few lavender sets left so I am putting them on ebay while they still smell beautifully of that lovely Shropshire lavender.

Hope you are all enjoying a happy "in between Christmas/New year" week.
