Good morning all.
I'm on Nanny duty this week so this is a pre- loaded quickie!
Firstly, my Olympic twiddler - as promised.....
I hope you can recognise... gymnast, high jumper, footballer, basket ball player and a beach volley ball player, I have started another one with different athletes. Ben was very impressed so I thought the idea was worth another attempt..
Below is my first foray back to normal entertainment...
The cast: Lord Chamberlain's Men - seven lovely young men taking on all of the roles - some playing 3 parts!
It really was a memorable event and if they come to a place near you, I would recommend it.
The backdrop of Shrewsbury castle, as the sun set behind it, helped make it a most atmospheric performance - only slightly marred by the sound of a train pulling into Shrewsbury station just below the castle!!

My brother saw the exact same performance in the Cotswolds - he said the troupe was fab, he’s been to a couple of their shows now. It’s almost like getting back to normal life isn’t it, hooray! LOVE that twiddler, I think you should send a pic of it to Tom Daley, he’d appreciate it!! Have some lovely time with Ben this week xx

Happy WOYWW. Your Olympics twiddle mitt is a work of art. Definitely send a picture to Tom Daley. I love Macbeth (studied it for O Level many years ago) and would definitely like to go to an outdoor performance. Hubby is not keen on theatre of any kind (perhaps because he has never been), so used to get local friends together if there was anything on locally that we wanted to see. I had booked to go to an event this month, but then it got postponed until a weekend in September when we are going away. Typical ! Ali x #12

I wish the Lord Chamberlains would come and do Macbeth down here. I’ve loved Macbeth since I played 1st Witch at school (in Yoko Ono sunglasses and a red wig).

How wonderful to see Macbeth played like that. I was in my teens when I last saw MacBeth at the theatre. My husband is not an avid theatre fan - I once took him to Rosencrantz and Guildenstein (spelling probably atrocious) he was bored, but I have to admit I was to! Your Olympic twiddlers are great. What a fabulous twiddler-Ben will be wanting to keep that one. A real treat to see some live theatre-it’s those things we have been missing.
I love outdoor theatre, three roles apiece makes hard work doesn’t it…makes me panic just to think of muddling all the roles up! I think the Olympic twiddler is a triumph Jo, I really do, and I think a series would be good!!
That outdoor theatre performance sounds idyllic, the way you described it! I would definitely enjoy something like that. We went cycling in Stratford the other day (they have an off-road cycle track there not far from us) and later we walked around the town and it definitely put me in the mood for Shakespeare! Love the new twiddler - I bet you're sad that the Olympics are over! Team GB did so well and your twiddlers are a fitting tribute to the team. The Olympic twiddler is a treat, Jo, and I am particularly impressed with the interlocking circles! All very clever. The outdoor performance of Macbeth sounds amazing - just the sort of thing I would love to attend, especially with such a dramatic background.

Your Olympic twiddler is brilliant, Jo. I love all the detail you've included. Something for Alan to aim at! Macbeth was one of the Shakespeare plays I studied at school so many, many years ago and I remember vividly seeing Judi Dench as Lady MacBeth. There's nothing like a live performance. I am very envious of the outdoor Macbeth - it takes me back to seeing an outdoor Pride and Prejudice played by just 5 actors.
