Friday smile

It's a lovely bright Friday here today so I just took a quick photo from my kitchen door.

That blue sky is such a welcome sight after the gloomy grey days of Winter.
It's the first day of Spring today.
March 21st was my Grandma's birthday.
We have such fond memories of a dear old lady who lived to be nearly 101.
She was the one with the talent for needlework that Annie and I inherited.
A bright little button with a sharp mind and skillful nimble fingers. She made nighties and dresses for us well into her 80s and 90s!

AND below...
A much better photo of the Redpoll.
The male is on the right and below on the left, I think, it's the female.
They arrived on my nyger seed feeder just as I took the photo of the hills.

Have a great weekend everyone and if you want to join in with Friday smiles pop over to Annie's "A stitch in time" blog and cheer her up as she is feeling poorly this week.

x Jo

Lovely pic there. Now I am never sure, is that towards Wales or the Dark Side? It is sunny here right now though we have had the wet stuff - like we need any more!

OK, dear Jo, I am now officially JEALOUS of all that beauty from your kitchen window, and even from the photo of your back yard. You were right. This Smile simply screams color and bright spring, too. Thank you, thank you for sharing.

You're a cheeky monkey you are .... as you know I have lots of cold, brilliant, white, brand new, SNOW outside my front door!
That does it ....I'm just staying in and baking some more goodies... and drawing ...and vacuuming and ... well,..all the fun stuff I do inside my nice toasty warm house...

So jealous! Can you ask the redpolls to stop by our garden? What a treat! :)

Gorgeous photo Jo, would love to have your view, especially if the sky was always that shade of blue. You have lovely memories of your grandmother too - thanks for sharing. Elizabeth xx

Two beautiful photos, each enough to bring a smile. It was one of my aunties who taught me to knot and to to do embroidery. Her needlework was just as perfect on the back as on the front, very talented. Glad you enjoyed the little test for fun. xx Maggie

Yes, it's amazing how much difference a blue sky makes. I don't think I've ever seen a redpoll, I must find out if there are any in my part of the world.
