BUT ---occasionally we like to go a bit further (daring, I know!)
Yesterday was one of those days.
At about 9.45 my dear, much younger sister rocked up on my doorstep with... Guess Who...... LLJ..
Yes our very own Lunch Lady Jan!
She was on holiday in our area and we planned a crafty day here together.
Well, needless to say - not much crafting took place - rather more chatting and laughter really, but, what a lovely day we had.
Jan is a real treasure and patiently listened and watched while I showed her my free- machining technique! She was even kind enough to say she had learned a lot - bless her!
Now, being the hostess, I didn't have much time to take pics so, if you want to see us all in action then you will have to check out their blogs today here and here.
Jan was so lovely and didn't seem to mind the fact that my crafty stash is piled around the place in bags and boxes and every room in my new house is still lampshade free ( I think I will start a new trend!)
Maybe next time we all meet up, my place might be a bit more organised but it just goes to show that it's not the place but the people that are important in life and we are so lucky to have met such a special one.
So, yet again thanks to Julia (the birthday girl) for keeping WOYWW going and for rounding us all up together.
Oh, and I think I will call my photo "Empty desk syndrome" - it's very quiet here!!!!!

What a special day it was Jo....life really should be filled with days like that. She really is such a lovely lady and we would have never met if we weren't part of this fab group....what a blessing. Thanks so much for hosting it....maybe I will have my own craft room to have one in some time?????

What a lovely post Jo. How special to see and spend time with sis and a WOYWW friend. What a great day you all seem to have had (yes, I have read all three posts now) and how lucky we all are to have met through the idea that Julia had one day. We have a lot to thank her for.

Your desk does look a bit empty now! I bet your house is a lot quieter too, lol!! Seriously, thank you for yesterday, I had such a good time with you both...and the lunch was scrummy. I DID learn a lot from you and would like to say another thank you for all the bits and pieces I left with...they'll be really useful, and I am definitely going to practise free machining more when I get home. I don't feel so afraid of it now.

Ahhh, i am sure a lot of laughter as well as talking went along there, Jo am so glad you were able to catch up, and you are so right the state of the room is irrelevant to the fun to be had with good crafty, kindred spirits.

I just saw Jan's blog, and seeing all your happy faces together made me so happy! I was just asking Jan, what is vilene? Is that stabilizer? She's hard not to like isn't she! So So glad you three had such a lovely day - and Jan most certainly wouldn't have looked twice at the lampshades or boxes...she is most definitely the guest that comes to see you and not your house! I bet it does feel a bit quiet at your desk now...i see some gorgeous pics of your dumfings though...that should keep you cheered!

ReplyDeleteat the moment, mine is full of just about anything and everything.... most of it out of the curio cabinet in the front room..... because I'm still waiting for delivery of the new one. This one got damaged in transit...months ago... and, still sits empty... no point in putting things in there and then taking them out again. Well, I don't think so anyway...
