Good morning all.
I hope you have been managing to dodge the heavy Spring showers - we have certainly had lots of them over the last week but the sunshine in between has also been lovely.
My table is quite tidy this week as I have been busy with other things and knitting in the evenings. I will post some of my knitties on Friday.
So - on my table is one of the pretty little vintage embroidered table cloths I found at the car boot and a jolly little tin that had the buttons in that you can see below. I just love a button tin don't you?
The patterns are unused ones from my stash that I have put on ebay. I just thought they might be of use to some of the folk new to sewing following the upsurge after the Sewing Bee.
The little pink purse is bursting with ATCs ready for the 5th WOYWW anniversary. Let me know if you would like to swap. I think Annie and I will post ours together to save postage.
Well that's it for this week.
Thanks to all who left me a comment re sunflowers v poppies - Maxine was amazed at how many loved her sunflower picture! She now thinks she will make another one for her exhibition.
Have a good week.
x Jo
Ooer buttons....I want to play with them :-) Such lovely colours too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Those are awesome buttons. I'm like Annie. Not only do I want to play with them, I want to run my hands through them. I always like how buttons, especially the older ones, feel and sound when they are jostled.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW from # 1. Did I mention I want to handle those buttons (grin)?
love those buttons ! my mum's button tin was wonderful. I did get quite damp on the way home yesterday, thanks for asking!! Helen 7
ReplyDeleteWhat is it that makes a tin of buttons completely irresistible?! I think it's a good thing I don't go to car boot sales, my house is full enough! I'd love to swap with you and Annie. Maybe I could send mine together too? Will drop you a line.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while I know, since I last managed to link up but I'm back now and just popping my head round the door to say hello!
Thanks for sharing your creative space and I hope you have a good week too.

Oooer, I love my button tin Jo! It's full of memories.
ReplyDeleteI just commented over at Annie's that I still haven't finished my ATCs from last year! Best if I don't join in, unless I alter them to WOYWW 4/5 :)
Hugs, Di xx
Thank goodness you rescued the button tin and contents..can't bear to think of people not wanting them!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile girly, if you say your desk is tidy because you haven't been busy, I'll see your desk and raise with 'but you naturally tidy as you go along - you can't help it'...I'm pretty sure that makes you the winner, even though I won!
Love that button tin Jo, hope you're well xx
ReplyDeleteFab buttons Jo, and that tablecloth is so pretty. I treasure the ones my auntie used to embroider, especially as she was really a knitter. I still have a coat she made me (knitting) which must be 50 years ago now.
ReplyDeleteWould love to swap and I have just ordered an atc from Annie.
Hugs - Neet 13 xx
There is nothing quite like a good button tin! Well done for rescuing it :-) I would like to have a rummage around it!!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to swap an ATC with you and might put Wipso's in for the same reason!
Hugs, LLJ 22 xx
I often wonder why we all seem to love buttons. I have tins, boxes and sweet jars full of them, but I still can't resist them at a Brocante!

Fabulous finds! My Mum used to embroider items for presents as well as for our own use - wish I'd kept at least one! Chrisx 79
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! I think I failed to visit you last week - and I always love what you have going on. Vintage pieces are so special too. But I'm coming back Friday to see your knitting! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #68
ReplyDeleteYour vintage table cloth is lovely! I have a few myself. And all those fabulous buttons! Have fun playing with them! Happy WOYWW!

Hi Jo, I absolutely adore the embroidery on the tablecloth and the button box is fabulous - love buttons too. Those are very elegant looking outfits on the front of the patterns - are you making them up for yourself? Have a great week, Elizabeth x #78
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely assortment of goodies there, Jo! Yes, please, I'd love to swap. If you email me at chrysalisuk87@yahoo.com with your postal deets, I'll reply with mine. Take care, Chris # 23 xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tablecloth, Jo. Someone has put so much hard work into that, haven't they? Hope you can make great use of it. I would dearly love to send an ATC to both yourself and Annie - a little thank you for your support re the dolls for Uganda.
ReplyDeleteTake care, and have a special week.

Button tins are always important memories for children through the generations. My grandmother kept hers in a drawer of her Singer Treadle machine table, and was a real treat to play with. I am still in the middle of doing the ATCs I intend to finish and I would love to swap with you and Annie. I don't blame you for trying to cut down on postage, a very sensible thing to do. xx Maggie #20
ReplyDeleteI've got good memories of those embroidered tablecloths, and I LoVe a button tin!
ReplyDeleteI used to spend a happy hour or two rummaging through Grans button tins as a little girl..they hold an endless fascination for me. Thanks for sharing. Happy belated WOYWW. Caro x (#92)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Can you email me your details for the ATC swap (details on my blog). thank you!
