Good morning all.
This week we have mostly been needle felting!
On my desk is the big bag of wool rovings that I use for wet felted backgrounds and needle felting.
Maxine came over for a "dumfing" day on Monday. (Dumfing is our name for needle felting because it's the noise the embellishing machine makes as it dumfs through the rovings into the background piece).
We had a lovely day - chatting, dumfing and oo-ing and ah-ing over the scan pics of my grandchild to be!
As usual Maxine did most of the dumfing and I was the "facilitator" ie made the lunch, the drinks, set out the crafts and packed it all away again. I don't mind. It is so lovely to watch her being crafty and chilling out.
Now here is the question....
Sunflowers?
Or.....
Poppies?
I love both but wondered which you like - just a bit of market research. We are going to do an exhibition of our textile work in Montgomery at the end of July and I think we need to stock up on a few different designs.
So please tell me which you prefer - in fact any comments would be appreciated.
I know you will be honest and say what you think and we love to hear from you.
Don't forget to let me know if you want to swap ATCs this time too.
It will soon be our 5 year anniversary of this wonderful blog sharing WOYWW and a good time to share some of our crafts around the globe!
Have a good week.
Thanks for calling.
x Jo
Hi, what a bag of rovings. Normally I'd say poppies, but this time I'm going for the sunflowers!! Have a great week. Helen 13
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, the word dumfing always makes me smile even though i now know what it means.
ReplyDeletei adore poppies and they are both stunning works of art but i have to go with the sunflowers, they are amazing.

Ive got to say poppies cos you know how much I love them but I really do love the sunflowers too....great results of your day together.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x

ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW :)

I'm with the sunflowers Jo! Absolutely beautiful and so like the fields of those happy flowers we've seen in Southern Germany. Mind you, I love the poppies as well :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs, Di xx
Do I have to choose...don't wanna. I like both!! Ooooh, ok then....sunflowers...no, poppies...no sunflowers it is.
ReplyDeleteI think ;-)
Hugs, LLJ 2 xx
Well, here am I all on my own - Poppies! I adore poppies in any shape or form and if I had a garden full of them I would be a happy bunny. Just wish I had some of the small red ones in my garden rather than just the yellow and orange.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, both are beautiful but I do like the poppies and I would love to swap atc's with you when I get around to doing them.
Hugs, Neet 25 xx
Both are gorgeous but I do think the poppies will be a poignant tribute for the WW1 commemorations running this year. A few pieces of memorabilia to link them into the theme would be a wonderful way of displaying them. (I can copy some of our family stuff if you need any)
ReplyDeleteJo x
Both gorgeous, both stunning but I am a poppy girl.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week.

Oh I love your dumbfing. Something I have no clue about. But I love the finished items you have shared. I love both, I think it would be a color choice. It's always hard to know what the "rest of the public" enjoys. Good Luck with that. I'm interested in an ATC exchange. Need a rainy day to catch up, so excited to have sun and warmth here. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you're finding it hard to choose between the two, they are both gorgeous,
ReplyDelete. I like the poppies best as I love the added stitching around the petals x
I'd have to go with the poppies, too, although it's really hard to choose. Your felting is fab - yet another craft I'd like to have a go at - just never enough time! I have done wet felting though, and really enjoyed it. Have a great week, Chris # 47
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of sunflowers, because after all, I live in the SUNFLOWER state, but I love those poppies. I think they dumf better.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day and I'll see you on Friday. Happy WOYWW from # 5.
These are so beautiful. Is that the correct term for the wool, roving? I have a big bag of it. I bought a load intending to try needlefelting as I thought it was something I could do in front of the telly - only by hand, and only tried it once - hubby definitely didn't like the 'doomfing' LOL. Happy WOYWW, Cindy #36
ReplyDeleteI'm as poppy person through and through but must say the sunflowers are a refreshing change. Hugs Mrs a.
ReplyDeleteI always love your dumfing and both are stunning. I would love to swap ATCs with you please. Thanks for sharing. Happy WOYWW. Caro x (#43)
ReplyDeleteMmmm.....I'm really not sure which I prefer as both are absolutely stunning. My personal preference would always be poppies but I actually think the sunflower one is my choice this time, x
ReplyDeleteOh, Jo. What a choice. The sunflowers are stunning - the poppies are stunning. Both are just lovely - no favourite at all.
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a really productive week.

Hi Jo! I love them both and I would imagine that any voting would be split down the middle but you know I have a soft spot for poppies but there is a certain degree of sadness associated with them... so I opt for sunflowers, cheery smiley things they are!! Annette #9
ReplyDeletePoo... yes please can we swap ATC's again? I have your addy... will send you my Scottish addy cos I should be home about then!!! Annette #9
ReplyDeleteG'day Jo
ReplyDeletehappy late WOYWW. I seem to be always running late. OMG both are divine and I really can't choose one over the other...what clever ladies you both are indeed!

I think you must take some of each....
ReplyDeleteHi Jo happy WOYWW, sounds like a fun day there and as for choooosing weelll I love them both but probably pic the sunflowers. Cheers and have a great week RobynO#67
ReplyDeleteMorning Jo,
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous pair of pictures and what a decision you are asking of us. I think the poppies by a very short head.
I don't know if you have visited my blog, but you got an honourable mention on it.
Would love to swap ATCs with you.
