Good morning all.
I'm on Nanny duty this week so this is a pre- loaded quickie!
Firstly, my Olympic twiddler - as promised.....
I hope you can recognise... gymnast, high jumper, footballer, basket ball player and a beach volley ball player, I have started another one with different athletes. Ben was very impressed so I thought the idea was worth another attempt..
Below is my first foray back to normal entertainment...
Last week I went to an outdoor performance of Macbeth at Shrewsbury castle. It was a perfect evening and we enjoyed a picnic and a couple of glasses of wine before the performance. The cast: Lord Chamberlain's Men - seven lovely young men taking on all of the roles - some playing 3 parts!
It really was a memorable event and if they come to a place near you, I would recommend it.
The backdrop of Shrewsbury castle, as the sun set behind it, helped make it a most atmospheric performance - only slightly marred by the sound of a train pulling into Shrewsbury station just below the castle!!
Have a good week all.
xx Jo
Wow. the Olympic twiddler is fantastic! the outdoor Macbeth looks great, too. Hope Nanny duties are going well this week - happy WOYWW ! Helen #2
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with the latest twiddle mitt too Jo - Ben is not the only one. Look forward to seeing which sports make it onto the second one. Glad you enjoyed your evening out it sounds like a great performance. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #5
ReplyDeleteMy brother saw the exact same performance in the Cotswolds - he said the troupe was fab, he’s been to a couple of their shows now. It’s almost like getting back to normal life isn’t it, hooray! LOVE that twiddler, I think you should send a pic of it to Tom Daley, he’d appreciate it!! Have some lovely time with Ben this week xx

Fabulous twiddle mitt Jo. I enjoyed watching the olympics.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for sorting out my mess up with the parcel heehee.
I’ll keep a look out for the show. I’m going to my sister's next week in Oxford so might catch it down there.

Happy WOYWW. Your Olympics twiddle mitt is a work of art. Definitely send a picture to Tom Daley. I love Macbeth (studied it for O Level many years ago) and would definitely like to go to an outdoor performance. Hubby is not keen on theatre of any kind (perhaps because he has never been), so used to get local friends together if there was anything on locally that we wanted to see. I had booked to go to an event this month, but then it got postponed until a weekend in September when we are going away. Typical ! Ali x #12
ReplyDeleteYour outdoor performance sounds wonderful, it's something I have always wanted to do but have been put off in case of the weather changing.
ReplyDeleteLove your Olympic Twiddlemitt what a lot of characters on it - and another in the pipeline, Keep them coming, please.
Hugs, Neet 10 xx
I love your Olympic twiddled, Jo. I’d do one on Tom Daley, diving and knitting/crocheting!
ReplyDeleteI wish the Lord Chamberlains would come and do Macbeth down here. I’ve loved Macbeth since I played 1st Witch at school (in Yoko Ono sunglasses and a red wig).
Take care and happy WOYWW

How wonderful to see Macbeth played like that. I was in my teens when I last saw MacBeth at the theatre. My husband is not an avid theatre fan - I once took him to Rosencrantz and Guildenstein (spelling probably atrocious) he was bored, but I have to admit I was to! Your Olympic twiddlers are great. Have a great week Angela #9
ReplyDeleteI should have guessed it would be an Olympic Twiddler this week, it's brilliant. Pleased you've managed a bit of normality too. Wishing you a happy woyww. Hugs, Angela x14x
ReplyDeleteWow I love the Olympic Twiddler! amazing detail! I used to visit your blog via WOYWW many years ago.... I've been absent for over 8 years! Trying to get back into things :)
ReplyDeleteThe Macbeth show sounds great, I love outdoor shows.
Have a great week

What a fabulous twiddler-Ben will be wanting to keep that one. A real treat to see some live theatre-it’s those things we have been missing.
ReplyDeleteI love outdoor theatre, three roles apiece makes hard work doesn’t it…makes me panic just to think of muddling all the roles up! I think the Olympic twiddler is a triumph Jo, I really do, and I think a series would be good!!
ReplyDeleteThat outdoor theatre performance sounds idyllic, the way you described it! I would definitely enjoy something like that. We went cycling in Stratford the other day (they have an off-road cycle track there not far from us) and later we walked around the town and it definitely put me in the mood for Shakespeare! Love the new twiddler - I bet you're sad that the Olympics are over! Team GB did so well and your twiddlers are a fitting tribute to the team. If you do a diving one you could send it to Tom Daley - he's into yarn with his knitting! Have a lovely week Jo and thanks so much for your visit! xx zsuzsa #19
ReplyDeleteI've just realised Jan mention Tom Daley as well - don't just send him a picture though, send him the real thing!
ReplyDeleteThe Olympic twiddler is a treat, Jo, and I am particularly impressed with the interlocking circles! All very clever. The outdoor performance of Macbeth sounds amazing - just the sort of thing I would love to attend, especially with such a dramatic background.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,

Your Olympic twiddler is brilliant, Jo. I love all the detail you've included. Something for Alan to aim at! Macbeth was one of the Shakespeare plays I studied at school so many, many years ago and I remember vividly seeing Judi Dench as Lady MacBeth. There's nothing like a live performance. Have a great week. Hugs, Ellie, x #24
ReplyDeleteI'm late sorry. I was sure I'd been!I'm having trouble getting into Julia's blog so can't click on links! Your lovely Twiddlers is perfect and the best one yet! You win Gold!! Happy late WOYWW!? ((Lyn))#23
ReplyDeleteLoving your Olympic twiddle muffs, and I bet that was a sunning view of the castle . so glad you enjoyed it,
ReplyDeleteTake care and stay safe,

Love the Olympic twiddler - love your athletes!
ReplyDeleteI am very envious of the outdoor Macbeth - it takes me back to seeing an outdoor Pride and Prejudice played by just 5 actors.
Happy WOYWW!
Stay safe and keep well!
