My little "nurse mates" are now social distancing with NHS workers on my estate. They loved them and they certainly raised a smile. I am making more because the children walking past my window used to like to look at them and spot each new one and count them. It's and easy pattern that I found here... https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nurse-mates
I saw Caro's post on FB - she had been out and about with Alex and some stick on goggle eyes and her camera. So Caro - here's my attempt. I stuck them in a little book for Ben and gave him some "eyes" so that he could do the same. Thanks for the idea.
My sewing room has had quite a lot of action - masks and headbands for NHS and I have just finished off and packed, 12 twiddlers ready for the hospital. Here are a few of them..
Never a dull moment. I just wish I could be of more use to Max and Ben but I guess I just have to be patient.
So, that's it for this week.
Stay safe and keep well.
xx Jo
I like those nurse mates, really cute, and saw you had been scattering eyes around and thought you'd been copying Caro.
ReplyDeleteLike you I have completely run out of suitable fabric for bags, but actually my big problem was tie cord. I have absolutely nothing left.

Thanks for the link to the pattern Jo. I am not good at knitting in the round but will have a look at it. I am sure my sisters would both love one of these and one for #3 son as well. You are doing an amazing job for the local hospitals. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #2
ReplyDeleteOhhh the nurse mates are just darling. I can imagine you bring a smile to the children's faces when they are stopping and pointing at your window. Stay safe and creative. Love the twiddlers as well.

You're such a neat knitter! The little nurses are fantastic, I bet they've cheered everyone up! Thanks for the link to the pattern. Well done for all you're doing to help make stuff for the NHS, I admire you making the gowns but you are a proficient garment maker!!
ReplyDeleteKeep safe and well,
Hugs LLJ 11 xx
Love your post today Jo...I'm sure Ben will enjoy playing with his googly eyes. Well done you with all you're doing. Keep smiling, we can do this lockdown thing.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

I must have missed the 'eyes' post - that's hysterical!! Love your little nhs workers - so cute. I have a load of teddies, maybe I should stick masks on them.... but nobody comes down here anyway we are at the end of the cul de sac. Amuses me though. Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #18
ReplyDeleteLike Jan, you’re doing some really generous and important work there Jo, how lovely of you. I love the nurse dollies, am not surprised the children look for them on their walks. And don’t worry about Ben, he’ll barely remember this time because you make all your together time so memorable.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo. Great nurse idea! Looking good in your window - I can picture where they are which is so great. More twiddle muffs - my sister in law has been knitting twiddle blankets for people in the local care home. I think she is quite enjoying the change of activity!
ReplyDeleteTake care. Stay safe. God bless.

ReplyDeleteThe nurse mates are adorable, love them to bits. The goggly eyes are a brilliant idea, might have to put some of those in the park. Gorgeous new mitts too and well done with the masks and headbinds. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, much appreciated. Take care and have a very happy woyww, Angela x15x
ReplyDeleteLoving the nurse mates such a lovely thing to do and your googly eyes are fun! Fab desk share. Take care Zoe xx 25
ReplyDeleteI love the nurse mates and they are such a fun thing for kids to come across while out for walk. The eyes are so funny, and a fantastic idea for a project for Ben - love it!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are going great guns with the NHS stuff and the twiddle muffs - I have to admit I'm sticking to the laundry bags as I don't really have the skill to do the scrubs and gowns, or elastic to do the headbands. Keep up the good work and hope you have a good week,

the nurse mates look fab, and so do the googly eyes - it's good to be able to smile these days! Take care and stay safe.

ReplyDeleteWOW!! I love your creativity. I am glad I returned to Stamping Ground so I am able to see what you all are doing. It is fantastic to see your art - completely different from my paper/painting art. Thank you ever so much for sharing.

Love the nurse mate and your googly eyes! Such fun. The twiddle mitts are gorgeous as ever. Happy belated WOYWW. Stay safe and take care my friend. With love & God Bless, Caro xx (#29)
ReplyDeleteI love to see a lot of my woyww-friends have their sewing machine on the desk, making masks and headbands and all... we are blessed that we can make those ourselves and help others with it (although I still think it is 'false trust' when you wear them, keeping your distance is much more effective..) The little dolls are cute too! Sorry I'm late with my visit this week... it's already Saturday, wow! Enjoy your weekend! Hug from Holland, Marit #20
ReplyDeleteJust doing pop up comment boxes not embedded this week, my eyes are too tired for mobile, Jo... yes waiting is very hard. I was spoilt today and saw both my sisters, we are allowed .. with restrictions l
ReplyDeleteLovely desky share sorry I’m late... again... 😁 sorry about that, but least I can comment on yours, so love those nurses they are really really gorgeous!.. and the google eyes, Ben will have fun!
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially in these troubled times, may we look up in faith, not at the mud underneath ! Praying you’re all kept well too!

Love those googly eyes!! such fun! may pass the idea on to DDC, she struggles with keeping her 'soon to be five' year old occupied. Love all the NHS staff, I am trying my hand at knitting preemie cardigans.
ReplyDeletehave a good week, enjoy the sun.
