WOYWW

Can a needlewoman ever have enough reels of thread?
Here is the little hoard that I found at the car boot sale - 3 little plastic tubs with about 40 reels - some partly used, but still a bargain for £2!
They will be fine for my crafty projects although I tend to use new stuff for my dress making projects.
So that's my desk for today. On Monday it was filled with Maxine's busy book.
She is putting bias binding around each page and it is looking really great. No doubt she will blog it on her Tilly Tea Dance blog later.

This is my latest little knittie.

I used Sirdar Faroe chunky wool to knit a little cardi for autumn days - size 1-2 yrs.
I love the colour combo.

I am also knitting a similar one in lovely blue/green shades of the same random wool.

However, I do get a bit hung up on making both sleeves and both fronts "match" .
Annie and Jan know what I mean. I have been known to almost unravel a whole ball just to get the colour match! Annie and I have laughed ourselves silly trying to get it right. I don't like a totally random look. But I came to the conclusion with the blue shades that there was no real match as each ball was slightly different so I gave up - well, almost!!!

If you want to see what crafters' desks around the globe are looking like today, just follow the link to WOYWW over at Julia's Stamping Ground.

Have a great week
x Jo

PS - for those of you who left lovely comments about my dancing lessons last week - I am still practising and not quite up to producing the video that several requested!!!! However, the pole is in place and is perfect for the job!

  1. I am as envious of your new stash of thread as I am of Annie's lovely new cabinets with all the thread and bobbins. Great find.

I had to go back and learn about the pole. That should have been a Friday smile because I'm still laughing. I hope he hung the curtains, too!! Happy WOYWW from #2.

  3. I hadn't realised until you showed me on my visit, how you match the colours up...it makes such a difference. I'm going to have to do that from now on!! Love the colours on the completed cardi, perfect for autumn chilly days!
Look at you and those threads...what is it with you and Annie today?! I have about twenty or so..... Need to catch up, I think :-)
And I'm so glad the pole is getting good use...do the hunky builders appreciate your efforts??

  7. I love finding bargains like that - and I also love reels of threads, especially the vintage ones on wooden spools (I suppose that makes me vintage too, as I remember when they only came on wooden spools!). The little jacket is so cute and I love the colouring - that's really pretty wool you've got there. Hope you have a great week,

  8. Hi Twiglet, love the cardies, brings back memories of my Mum making them for us kids when I was younger. We never ever had a shop bought one! A needlewoman and too much cotton? That's like a stamper and too many inkpads, lol. They were a great bargain though, especially as so many are Sylko- I do remember that much from school sewing lessons, lol.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #4 xx

  11. Hi Jo, the thread is a real bargain! Reels of thread are so expensive nowadays ... now that makes me sound so old :) The little knittie is lovely. I don't knit anymore but if I did I would also want the arms of knits to match up ... daft but true. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #37

  15. It seems no matter how much thread we have, there's never quite the right match for a new project! Or is that just me? Your little hand knit is just beautiful, what lovely shades in the wool.

  16. I always love your knitting projects Jo. And I agree, I can't have enough spools of thread! Lately I've been buying some pretty variegated spools of thread for my craft projects on the sewing machine, but they are a bit pricey so I have to wait for a sale! Have a happy week. Sandy Leigh #42

  18. Yes, that is a bargain! A girl can never have enough thread.
My grandmother was a seamstress by trade and when we would go for a drive and see some remote beauty spot, her only thought was: I wouldn't like to live here...what if I need a reel of thread...'.
Love the knitted cardy. So what if the pattern doesn't match!
Apologies for the late comment. I've been so busy yesterday...
    A blog hug from me,
