WOYWW

Good morning all!
Where do these weeks go - here we are on What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday again.
We love showing our work desks and anything that we have been busy with.

This week I have managed to elbow Maxine off my sewing table for a little while!
My friend needed clothes for Sindy  and Action Man so I have been making tiny outfits in my spare time.

Also, I found a nice chunky cardi pattern for Ben and some chunky wool - not sure if Max will like it but I will knit it up anyway.

She decided a seat harness, that they could use on normal chairs when out and about, would be very useful. So, using a friend's as a pattern this is what I came up with. I love the little elephants on the fabric - a nice practical colour way too, I think.
Ben seems happy enough in it....

Annie and I managed a quick shopping trip to Watson and Thorntons in Shrewsbury yesterday.
If you need fabric or haberdashery - it has a wonderful selection (See LLJ's blog from last week!)
I bought some spotty tabling and Annie bought some fabric for backgrounds. Brian is always so knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to finding suitable fabric etc.

Well that's it for this week.
I hope you are all well and making the most of Summer.

Thanks for calling by.

x Jo

  1. Gorgeous photo of your little model today Jo. Didn't we have a lovely morning yesterday....and the Permastiff seems to do the job nicely [it's easier when it's stiff?].
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  2. Ahem, I think you'll find it is easier when it's stiff.
What a great picture of Ben, and I think your just whipping up a chair harness is amazing, we had one all those years ago and it was one of the best things we had...so much easier to be inclusive of your child if he can actually sit with you!
I nearly fainted when I saw your desk photo, just for a micro second I mthought you'd gone LARGE and had a man spread eagled across it. Now I would definitely have been asking how you did that! I made barbie clothes for Jenny and my neice....gadtney were fiddly!

  3. Oh yes! I remember it well... making those tiny outfits. I expect I'll get requests for them again now the girlies are growing up and into all those dolls.
Ben is just GORGEOUS! He is growing up so quickly and beautifully too. Love the seat harness.

  4. I think you've missed your calling... Action Man looks so dapper in his stripy blazer, I can't wait to see the rest of his Autumn/Winter collection! And on the subject of dapper men, my little man just looks scrummy in his portable high chair, thanks x

  7. What a fantastic idea for the chair harness - I love the fabric, and doesn't he have the cutest little smile! I used to make all my Sindy doll clothes with my Nan when I was a child - I still have them all in a trunk in the loft! I'm sure they'll give hours of pleasure! Hope you have a great week, and many thanks for stopping by earlier,

  8. What a cutie. We had something similar when the children were small and it was so handy to shove in my bag when out and about. Great job :-)

  13. Ben is soooo cute!! Those Barbie and Ken clothes remind me of a booth a lady had at the craft fair and all she sold was Barbie and Ken clothes, and her booth was busy all day! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #38

  14. Your comment on my blog made me lol!! I tried to be decorous in my reply to Annie, but am not sure it worked. So glad that you lowered the tone - it's usually me :-)
That chair harness is fab and what a handsome model. He's such a gorgeous little boy. That elephant fabric is brilliant (and won't show the dirt that all small boys attract!!)
Had Brian recovered from my visit? Poor chap.....

  19. Hullo Jo,
... how clever is that seat harness have ever seen one before and think it is a simply brilliant idea..
As is your so very cute model Ben, he has a gleeful smile!!
Wow, am impressed with your doll's clothes, my sisters and I had three barbies and I made two bridesmaids dresses and a bride dress, also when we doing it at school I made an Elizabethan dress for my barbie too. Sadly we moved so often none of them survived, Happy WOYWW, thanks for popping over, Shaz in Oz.x #20

  20. What a clever idea that seat harness is, I wish I'd had that when mine were small, life would have been so much easier when you are out an about with them.
Had to smile at the dolls clothes, bet they'll be the best dressed action man and Sindy for miles around.

  21. Thanks for the visit...we came home from the lake to check on the farm animals and cats, a load of laundry and back at it for a fun "On Main" tonight. Ben is just adorable. You are so lucky to be so close by. And what a neat harness idea, never have seen that before. Those tiny doll clothes are a time consuming piece of work, but I loved doing them. I had 3 nieces and did bride dresses for all. Have a fun week.

  23. That harness is such a handy thing to have and how nice that you can make one just like that! We used to make simple dresses for Barbie dolls but we did it with hand stitching. Your creations look wonderful. Your friend is blessed to have you!
    Happy WOYWW!

  24. Thank you for your visit honey.
Love the harness and what a fabulous idea.
Loks so much better than the reins we had to use when my kids were babies :)

  25. Outfits for Cindy and Barbie were almost a pre requisite of motherhood And they sure were fiddly to make especially when tiny buttons were needed to finish the outfit off properly. Love your seat sling. Such a good idea. hugs Mrs A.
