WOYWW

 Good morning all!
The sun is pouring through my window and the birds are singing as I type.
I love these bright Autumn days don't you?
My desk is covered with little frames that I have collected for Maxine.
We will use chalk paint and soft wax to "up-cycle" them and then use them to frame our little embroidered dumflings! (See here if you don't know what this means).
I was given two huge boxes of frames to add to my already huge pile so I was forced to have a good sort out and took some to the charity shop. A girl can have too many frames!!!

My latest sewing/crafting activity is below.
I was given a little chair which needed a facelift.
I delved into my fabric stash and found this piece of silky curtaining.
Once I had painted and waxed the legs( - the chair's not mine!) - I recovered the the seat and made a fitted back piece, stapling it all in place.
Not a bad renovation but it did take me all day to plan, cut, sew and staple!

Well that's it for today.
Have a great week and don't forget to show us what you have been up to by revealing all on WOYWW.

x Jo

  4. What a lovely shaped chair. Not sure I could get down and up from it without arms though (the chair not me). Cannot believe you have so many frames and have taken some elsewhere - still I suppose you use a lot of them with your work and Maxine's. I take it she is still waiting? Exciting for you all.

  6. You made a blooming good job of that chair! Love the fabric, it's very elegant.
Hope the sanding and waxing hasn't left you with too much of a bikini rash, if you know what I mean :-) !!!

  8. That chair looks fab - great job! I've got loads of frames to upcycle, too - for pics of the family going way way back. I just can't decide on what colour. Most of the photo's are black/white, so I want them to look right. Hugs, Chris # 34

  17. Jo, that little chair is divine! Well done. And I think we all could take a lesson on upcycling our frames--I need to frame more of my embroidery work instead of letting it lay in a basket. Have a wonderful week! Sandy Leigh #59

  18. I love the poppue dumfling :)And upcycling is always good too!
About that renovation, I'd say: It only took a day to make it! I've got 4 old dining chairs still waiting for a renovation. About 1 1/2 year ago I recovered the seat with some fabric of one chair. I had taken apart another chair, as I was thinking of painting it white and it's easier sanding and painting when it's taken apart. And this is still how they are. 2 untreated, 1 half done, and 1 in pieces.
So really, 1 day for that project is really fast!

    Happy WOYWW,

  19. Hi Jo, that's a tidy pile of frames ... and a lot of painting and waxing to be done too. Still worth it to frame Maxine's beautiful work. You did a fabulous job on the chair ... it now looks as good as new. Hope you have a good week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #78

  20. Wow! That is a great pile of frames! I admit I had to look at the link to find out what 'dumflings' are and I must say they are very cute. Do you give them away as presents or do you sell them?
The chair is gorgeous. I have somewhere in the back of my mind to do something like that. I have some Annie Sloan paint and a stapler. That's as far as I got (no chair as yet!)
