Good morning all!
Another week has flown by and I am happy to say that I have managed a few crafty activities this week.
As you see above, I finished the little dressing up skirt for a Katie Morag day.
It seems that lots of schools are having a Katie Morag day where children can go to school dressed as a character from the Katie Morag story books. It sounds like fun for the children but obviously a headache for mums to come up with the outfit!!
I have made a couple of little kilts over the years for my teacher nieces for their class to use in their role play.
So this one went together nicely - I love the fabric - its is knitted viscose and will be quite cosy I think.
On my desk today is a picture that I am making for Maxine. She is putting together a project linked to her charity. They will be running "vintage style" tea parties and I thought the tea cups collage might make a good picture to go on their invites and posters. I love all the pretty fabrics and trims don't you?
The little bag on the left contains the bits and bobs for another little Katie dolly.
I had a chuckle on Sunday when my hubby came through to the kitchen to say he had just spotted Katie Morag on the tv and knew who it was as she looked just like my little dolly!!!! (And I thought he didn't take much notice of all my crafty activities!!)
Well that's it for this week.
Thanks to all those who pop in and leave lovely messages.
I will try and visit a few more WOYWW desks this week.
Have a crafty week.
x Jo

They are super books too for the children and yes! your outfit and doll do look just like her. Looking forward to making an outfit for the little fraulein now even more.TYTYTY! The vintage tea parties will be a great success. I have a box in the loft full of little demi-tasse china cups and saucers ready to make into pin cushions and candles... a good idea for M to make sometime.

Love your little skirt, it looks great and that fabric with all the teacups is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMen surprise us with what they actually notice but don't always tell us they have don't they!!

That little skirt is fabulous! Clever you :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Maxine is doing. Funnily enough I've featured a teapot and china fabric on my blog today. Would you like it to do something with foe the tea parties? You've been so kind with sending items to me, I feel I want to do something in return.....
Hugs, LLJ 33 xx
I'm going to have to investigate Katie Morag too, but I love the skirt you've made, the fabric is lovely. COuldn't agree more about the teacups fabric, perfect for your intentions and your intentions are so lovely too!

Thought Katie Morag was another crafter for a moment, you can tell I have no children. Lovely kilt, wonder if you can still buy kilt pins, remember those from my youth. Very pretty cups as well.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteGosh a Katie Morag day?! That's pretty specific isn't it? I bet you have shares in green tartan now! ;-) #46
ReplyDeleteWell, the verdant green of the skirt is a welcome sight on a dreary day here. And, of course, I love the teacup fabric too. Have a great week. Susanne #79
ReplyDeleteYes the fabric is wonderful. Lucky little lass to be wearin' such a fine kilt. Carole #76
ReplyDeleteI know mine pays attention to all of it...and knows more about "dollies" than most men should .... and today he is the source of my blog fodder....
ReplyDeletethose teacups are such a great idea for the theme! beautiful! good luck to Maxine!
ReplyDeleteI don't know Katie Morag, but I love the outfit! Have a good week.Helen 7
ReplyDeleteLove the Katie Morag kilt - they are great stories! Your teacup collage will look great! My hubby pretends to not notice but then will surprise me with a comment or a bargain find! Thanks for visiting, Chris#70
ReplyDeleteI am out of date. I have never heard of Katie Morag, so I must look that up. I bet you are a popular lady, making all these goodies for everyone. You are so right about getting all the sorting out done in this horrid weather. I am just hoping for some dry weather for a few hours so I can plant my new fruit bushes which arrived yesterday, too late to plant in the dry. Hope you are clear of any floods etc and have a good week. xx Maggie #3
ReplyDeleteJust hopped in via JoZarty's blog and spotted your Katie Morag skirt. My little grandee is learning about her at school too. Must be the current theme on the curriculum, x
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, just doing some desk hopping...cool skirt, and loving the teacup picture. Cheers and have a great week RobynO#16
ReplyDeleteI'm going to feel guilty if I don't visit your WOYWW post before I write my Friday Smiles. Granted, I saw your dolly last week, but I still have no idea who Katie Morag is. I suspect that means I've been living in a closet or on a different planet. I really MUST find out about this doll which is obviously quite the rage in Britain.
ReplyDeleteYES, yes, yes. I love the tea cup collage. The beautiful ribbons will add the needed vintage feel to it, too. I wish your friend success. So many places here have closed and we no longer have even ONE tea shop. I suspect that sounds worse to you than to most Americans who seem to prefer coffee.
Thanks for visiting me on Wednesday. Now I'm off to find a way to smile today.
Gorgeous skirt and this tea addict loves the look of those cups. Thanks for sharing. Happy Belated WOYWW. Caro x (#57)
ReplyDeleteStraight away that skirt says Katie Morag, what fun for some little one. Glad your DH is observant, not many are.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
ps thanks for commenting on my blog sorry I am so late, was hospitalised on my return from the USA
Wow!
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose you'd consider taking a commission for a Katie skirt for a four-and-a-half-year-old?!
