Just two smiles for this dull, gloomy winter's day!
Firstly one of hubby's birthday cards...
How well his sister knows him!!
AND then....
a little gift that will be winging it's way to Germany soon.
Little Katie Morag sock doll is all excited - she is busy getting her passport ready!!

WOYWW
Well here we are at the end of January already!!
Birthday celebrations for my hubby today - we will enjoy a meal out with our daughter and son in law. It is the third celebration meal we will have had. Maybe next time I should get everyone together and have one event but it has been nice to have a few little outings to share with friends and family.
Thanks for joining the WOYWW blog hop and for calling in here to see what I have been up to.
This week I have been "dumfing" - needle felting with my machine and hand "dumfer".
Maxine has been making some more lovely pictures ready for her exhibition and I was just twiddling with little pieces to go on cards.
I think I might make a few more ATCs too. They turned out really well last time and I sent them all over the world for our WOYWW 3rd anniversary. ( see them here)
I also think I might have a bit of sewing to do this week as I have had a request for a little Katie Morag dressing up outfit. I love a little challenge.
So....
What have you all been up to?
I love having a quick blog hop and checking a few desks out. I even saw a sewing machine on display on a shelf last week!!! So come on - show us your desk!!!
Have a good week.
Thanks for calling by.

Finished by Friday and a couple of smiles
Firstly - my two little cardigans - all finished and buttons added etc. I love this little pattern and I just think the Sirdar "Tiny Tots" wool suits them perfectly. It was a bargain from Kemps Wools - check them out they have some great offers.
Next is my old faithful Dendrobium.
I have had it for about 10 years at at some point each year it throws out these pretty little blooms.
There are 4 fully out and 3 more to come.
They are just so daintily pink!
And below is just a little chuckle for you.
Ooops - have to rush - I need a euro!!!
Subject: the British penny.
EU
Directive No. 456179
In order to bring about further integration with the Single European
currency, all citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland must be made aware that the phrase
'Spending a Penny' is not to be used after 31st December 2013 ....
From this date onwards, the correct terminology will be:
'Euronating'.
Thank you for your attention
Happy Friday!!

WOYWW
Just a little more knittting....
Good morning all!
Thanks for joining the WOYWW blog hop and for calling in here to see what I have been up to.
I am sorry to say- not much sewing room activity again, this week.
I will get back to it eventually. I seem to have had a few days of "event and activities".
We saw The Railway Man at the cinema and had lunch out last week.
Then my lovely son-in-law treated my daughter and me to tickets for the Strictly Come Dancing show at the Birmingham NIA. A totally brilliant night out and tea at Cafe Rouge!
Along with visitors and a funeral this week, I doubt I will be doing much crafting.
Of course Monday is my day spent with Annie and the twins - much fun and hilarity there each week!!
So, all you see on my table is the wool that I bought to continue a few little knitting projects.
One little cardi is finished and another is on the go.
The Crofter wool is for a little hoodie, I think.
Well, thats it for this week - see you next week.
Thanks for calling by.
Have a good week.

Friday smile
The first snowdrops of 2014 - spotted last Sunday under the hedgerow!
Well that always makes me smile - just the thought of Spring being just round the corner.
Today is January 17th and I always reflect on our parents happy marriage - now 72 years ago.
Though no longer with us, I remember how they described their wartime wedding - Mum in a powder blue suit and Dad in RAF uniform, I think. It's a shame there are no photos of that happy day.
(I could write more but I have just popped over to Annie's blog so I can link up and surprise, surprise - she has written about it too. She has said it all so beautifully, I don't need to say more)
So raise a glass to that young couple who enjoyed a happy life together and who left a warm loving place in lots of folks hearts.
See what makes others smile over on Annie's blog "A stitch in time"

WOYWW
Well here we are half way through January already!
I hope you are all managing to keep clear of coughs, colds and the nasty weather.
My table hasn't been used for nearly a week.
I have been busy with little knitting projects but my machines have been idle.
I need to get a creative boost!
I have tried Pinterest but I seem to end up wasting time looking at other folks lovely crafty ideas but not doing any of my own!
Maxine decided she wanted to exhibit her needle felted pictures at the Montgomery Old Bell Museum Gallery so that will be an exciting little project for me to help with this year. I think she will probably be there at the end of July so I will keep you updated - just in case anyone feels the urge to visit the quaint little town of Montgomery.
So ... today you can see some of the little mounted needle felted pictures and a few of my little "dumflings" on the right. The two knitted items are just a tiny shrug and a cardi made from some of my wool left overs. I will probably send them to charity. I had fun with a bit of hand stitching on the pink cardi. I just need to find 3 pink buttons to finish it off.
That's it for today.

It's amazing what crafty folks get up to out there!
Have a good week.

Friday smile
Well it was going to be a Finished by Friday post too but this bear of little brain gave her latest knitties to her old school buddy without taking photos!!!
A shame because the little arran effect hoodie and pretty lemon spotty cardi were so cute!!
You will have to use your imagination!!!
So instead I am posting a beautiful needle felted picture that Maxine made .
She has enjoyed dabbling with the needle felting machine and has produced some gorgeous little pictures.
You can see more here- Tilly Tea Dance on Etsy
She has needle felted wool rovings onto a wet felted background and then machine embroidered and beaded it to bring out the detail. She has had lots of interest in her work so hopefully 2014 will be a good year for her projects!
Well that's a proud Mum talking!!
Thanks for calling by.

WOYWW - well stuffed drawers
Good morning and welcome to Twiglet's WOYWW - Pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground and join in the crafty blog hop - you never know what you might see or find out from these crafty folk and you may even find a new friend or two!!
Today I thought I would show you my little knitty makes.....
A little knitted hoodie for my friend's grandson.
It's my favourite Sirdar Baby Crofter.
I love the shades of blue/turquoise.
And this little "In threes cardi" is knitted in some left over wool from when I made the same one for Lexi.
I will donate this one to a good cause.
Some little girl will be pleased to get it I think.
AND my crochet hexagons which I have parcelled up for LLJ to send to the charity collection mentioned on her blog here last week. Pretty colours - they were left over from a little blanket I made for Annie's grand children several years ago. Like many of my left overs they tend to sit waiitng patiently in a cupboard until someone can use them. I never waste anything!!
Lastly just my table from a different angle with a few more of my makes, machines and little crafter's storage pots Maxine gave me for Christmas. (Just don't look at my well stuffed drawers!!!!)
He he - yes I will be going on a post Christmas diet!
Have a great week and thanks for calling by and leaving lovely messages.
You are a fab bunch!
x Jo
PS If you remember all those little dresses we made for the "Dress a girl around the world" scheme, then follow this link and see the amazing total Louise has reached so far!!!

Finished by Friday and a smile - or two!!
Just two of my latest little sock dolls finished by Friday and here to make you smile!
Above is Tree Fu Tom and below is Mr Bloom.
Now of course I don't normally watch CBeebies, except on a Monday when I am at Annie's with the twins.
They love Tree Fu Tom and I imagine sooner or later I will have to make them an outfit like I made for my friend's grandsons. (See it here).
But, for now, they will probably be happy with a little sock doll.
They also love Mr Bloom who has a garden full of puppets called the Veggies.
I think I might have a go at little Veggy puppets too but maybe next week!!!
I am sure they are cute enough to make you smile - but if not, then pop over to Annie's blog to see what is making her smile today.
Happy New Year all!

WOYWW - Happy New Year!
Just a quick post today to wish you all a Happy New Year!
I am sure most folk will be too busy to do the WOYWW rounds this week but just in case any feel the urge to pop by to see my workspace...............
This is what it looks like today..
A lovely poinsettia on my window sill in a cute little hessian pot.
My latest little Katie Morag style sock dolly and a bag for all her bits and bobs.
The back of a hoodie that I am knitting for a friend's new grandson.
One of my postcards made from a photo of my needle-felted pond picture.
Have a great day and may 2014 bring you health, happiness and lots of crafty fun!
x Jo
