WOYWW - Decisions!!

Lots of lovely threads to play with on my table today!!

I have been busy working on my big garden picture which I felted a few weeks ago.
It has been sitting in my sewing room just waiting for me to feel in the mood to attack it with some free maching and hand stitching.

Here it is before I made a start with the machine...
This is what the back looked like after a few hours of machining........

And - this is what it looks like now........

My next job is to add a few more hand stitches .

I did have a thought that it might look better as two pictures - so it might get cut down the middle - argh!!!! Decisions, decisions - and I am a Libran too.
Oh well - once I have finished it - all will be clear, I am sure.

What do you think?
To chop or not to chop???

I always love to hear what you think, so please leave a comment.

Thanks to all who popped over to see what Tilly Tea Dance had been up to on her first WOYWW last week. She loved hearing from you all. I know she has been busy dumfing over the weekend so hopefully she will find time to post too.
Join in our blog hop over at Julia's Stamping Ground - and see what we have all been up to this week.
Have fun
x Jo

  1. It's lush I think I would cry if I cut it in two, then I struggle to cut a 12 x 12 paper if I like it :-) hugs Pam x

  2. I'd say chop.....having see it for real folded in two. :-)

  3. It's a beautiful transformation (without the ugly caterpillar part :) I would be no help with the decision, but I don't think you will cause a disaster either way!

  4. Either way it's just fabulous Jo - I'm slightly with chopping it in two. Bit like a supermarket two for one offer :) And the two distinct colourways would give you two very different pictures, but also complimentary to one another. Rather you than me with the shears though :(

  5. It looks fabulous - I don't think I could cut it - but then you'd have two gorgeous works... oh I can't decide either! Have a great day - if you make your mind up! Helen 22

  7. I think it would be nice to leave it as one piece. The path gives it perspective and depth. You'd lose that if you halved it. It would go from being a picture of a garden to being two pictures of flowers.

  8. I don't think I'd dare put scissors to this, so would leave it as one. It's gorgeous! Karen T 92 x

  9. it does lead right to left up a kind of garden path, if you crop one third in from left to right? (as we look at the image)

the right hand two thirds still work, not sure the remaining left hand third will look so good without the right hand side, have you cropped it in photoshop?

your machine embroidery is magnificent - please come see the embroidery at the beetroot tree one day...

  10. Oh, now that is a big decision! I love the picture as a whole but I can see how cutting it in two would make two lovely pictures too. I am for leaving it in one piece, love the garden feel to it. Happy WOYWW, Anne x #9

  12. Ohhhh I wish my garden looked like that. It's a stunning piece of work. I'd definitely leave it whole, that path leads very nicely up the middle so that I can go and have a closer look at your flowers.

  13. Can’t believe that you have sooooo many threads!
It must take you hours working on all that freehand machine Jo but the finished piece is well worth it. I wouldn’t go cutting into it straight away. Do you have a couple of smaller mounts and a larger one that you can position over the top to see what they will look like.

    Happy Crafting!

  14. Your box of threads look so tempting!
I think it works as one piece but would also work as two pieces. Do you want one or two?
    Thanks for sharing,

  16. Think the picture looks great as either one or in 2. Interesting to see an insight into the stages it goes through.

  17. Again I didn’t join in this week but thought I would visit a few blog friends …life is a little upside down still. I am so glad I did drop by ..that is an amazing piece ....and I can see why you want to chop it in two ....go for it if it is not too difficult xx

  18. Woah...HOW many threads do you have???? Impressive :)

I say definitely chop it in two and though I normally shy away from halving things exactly, this time it would work perfectly!!

    Be brave!!

  19. Hmmmm...chop I think! its beautiful as it is, but I think it has a focal point on each side, which would be perfect when separated! Trish #78

  20. That looks fabulous Jo you are clever with that machine of yours x

  21. I can visualize it chopped. I like the idea of each half having its own focal point, rather than having the to shift eyes between left and right. Happy WOYWW from #6.

  22. I am absolutely no use in helping with your decision as I kept looking at it and saying "chop or not" and could not decide. I can see it will work both ways.
    Good luck

  24. Hi twiglet happy WOYWW x what a stunning piece and I can certainly understand your dilemma. One thing I know is it will be fabulous whatever you decide x crafty hugs Annie x

Ps loving your very creative aprons below for the flower girls .... Genius x

  25. Chop or not? I think chop, but not into perfect halves. I think the right side should be smaller than the other. With paper projects I sometimes do a colour copy and then play on the copies. Would that help you decide?

Hope you had a productive and sunny day. It was sunny in Manchester, so anything's possible!

  26. Nooooo! don't chop it it is lovely as it is... maybe needs a few beads, but that's just , beads with everything.

  27. No chop is my vote, it just needs a little bit of color below the garden path on the lower left. It's stunning, and you are sooooooooo creative! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :) #50

  28. Oh, no chopping, please ... it's perfect as it is. Seems that you are the same way with reels of threads as I am with ribbons ... addicted :) Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #75

  29. CHOP! It totally looks like it was made to be two pieces. I loved seeing the back of the piece. It is kind of like seeing the secret ingredient that makes it all happen. And look at all those threads! I always wondered who used those kinds of spools. Now I know!

  30. Wow, what more can I say, I've a little pm time and you totally amaze me with all that you do that machine. Beautiful Art. Enjoy

  34. Ha ha, you have as many threads as I have ink pads. I think I would chop as then you would have two pieces of loveliness.
Thanks for visiting yesterday - I'm a bit late getting round this week,

  35. I think you could chop it, if you can bear to, but it looks lovely as one large work of art. I was born on the cusp between Libra and Virgo, so not much help really!

  36. I would make a small pic from the RH red section.... then make a larger pic from the bulk of the pin/mauve flowered area to the left which flows from behind the purple flowers down along the slope.
    Does this make sense??!!
    Anyhow I love it!

  38. I have just read all the comments and if you are trying to get a decision from them it isn't going to work, it is 50 50 Try flipping a coin heads or tails,LOL I can see that it could be chopped and look great as 2 pieces of work. But and here is the but it is also beautiful as it is with the meandering garden path. So I say flip a coin....

  39. Another lovely dumfing blog! I've just come from Tilly Tea Dance - her work, like yours, is exquisite. It's unbelievable what beauty can be created in this way!

I'd say it would be a real shame to cut it. I love it as it is. If you cut it you get a hard edge which would spoil it!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  40. I thought the picture of all your threads was so pretty and then I scrolled down a bit and saw the gorgeous garden! Wow!
That is a hard decision to make.My initial reaction was "No, don't chop it in two!" but then I calmed down and looked closer and cold see how it could work. But in the end, I would probably keep it as one big gorgeous garden.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your lovely comment!
