Just a quick post today.
I have had a busy day or two making a few Christmas cards.
Now, as you know, I am not really a card maker. I love textiles and find it really difficult to work with paper and card.
So.....
All my cards are designed with mostly fabric, lace, ribbons and stitching.
The old Cuttlebug came in handy for cutting fabric flowers (Thanks to Crafty Dawn). Annie and I both used it on funday Monday. I just hope she has time to make a few cards with the lovely flowers she cut out. (Life is very busy for her at the mo).
The other other idea I had was to create a Victorian robin
design using a transfer print on linen
of one of my little dumfed robin pics.
I was quite pleased with the result.
UPDATE -
Neet asked me to show my robin card in close up.....
If you want to see more dumfing - follow this link to a few of April 2010 posts.

My table looks quite pretty doesn't it!
Just don't look at the window sill, shelves and under the table! I am such a messy worker. At one stage I had every unit in the kitchen covered too! There is so much stuff needed - guillotine, Cuttlebug, iron, sewing machines, card, glue, lace, buttons........... Now I know why I don't make too many cards!
Have a great day everyone and if you want to join in our mad WOYWW bloghop, then follow me to Julia's Stamping Ground and see what all the other crafty folk have been up to.

Fab cards Jo but you are right in thinking I haven't made even one yet :-)

See the whole point of you being a fabric person means you make even more interesting cards than most of us - tad underselling going on me thinks, they all look fab as far as I can see. I always regard it as an especially good crafty session when every available surface has been covered - shame we have to tidy away ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat desk..cards with the stitching and fabric are always unique. You've got a lot done. I've lots of ideas but just Life gets in the way of using up my time. We have wonderful weather here yet. So thankful, makes life a lot easier. Enjoy WOYWW and have a great week #47 Sylvia
ReplyDeleteOh those cards look extra special - would love you to post one of the dumfed robin in closeup so I can see.

A very pretty and festive table, lovely cards.

Lovely cards - I am far too lazy to make them I'm afraid.

Put like that, I do see why you think cardmaking is not for you - we do seem to use an awful lot of materials. However, your cards are lovely and the one with the robin is quite vintage looking - I love the idea of using fabric and lace to produce vintage style projects. Elizabeth x #78
ReplyDeleteFor "not really a carmaker" you make an exceedingly good job of making cards!! There are no set rules for card making and you have found your own beautiful style. I'm going to photograph my house today.... just for you!! Be in touch...

going like a Trojan - have not even thought about my cards and might even support a charity this time. I did 72 last year so ummm....need to get a move on.
ReplyDeleteLove the Robin close up - wonderful textures and colours. They are all fabulous cards and must go to loving appreciative homes...!
Thanks for sharing today, Sarah at 2.
Pretty Christmassy desk there!! I love the robin card, it works really well. Great combo of colours and textures :)

your cards are all beautiful, love that you showed the robin one in full size, we can see all the beautiful details!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW! have a great day Debxx #100
I love you finding another excuse to get textiles in use.I'd like a close up on all of them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for my "close-up" - it is absolutely beautiful. Are there any instructions anywhere on the internet for dumfing that you know of? Just wondering if I lay too much wool down when I do it. All I manage are stratas - but I do love them.
ReplyDeleteThanks again - Hugs, Neet
Me again - don't think I said - I love it, it is gorgeous, I love how you have done it on the material, used the button and the lace to adorn it and there is something behind it too.
ReplyDeleteFurther to your question... it depends what size they are.... could be a whole lot of knitting and maybe fleece would be quicker?!? LOL!

Wow you are organised with the festive cards! Puts me to shame, happy woyww trace x
ReplyDeleteLovely cards I especially love the robin card. Thanks for sharing. Anne x

oh I love, love, love the robin! what a great idea to transfer a dumfed piccie onto linen - inspired!
ReplyDeleteLove your robin. He's adorable. Like the fact your messy bits are hidden. Can't link today as no computer
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, Thanks for leaving your message on my blog last week. I’m so sorry that I didn’t repay the visit but time just slipped by me for some reason….but I’ve made it this week .
ReplyDeleteWell you would never guess for your cards that you’re not really a card maker, they are beautiful, especially the Robin…..he’s so sweet.
We all enjoyed Pricilla last week. The show is so flamboyant and colourful and the music has you singing along….you can’t help yourself. It's well worth going to see if you get the chance.
Happy Crafting!

Oh Jo - that Robin looks as if you could just reach through the screen and stroke him, he looks so soft and tactile. See the little hand giving him a tickle :) ?
ReplyDeleteAs others have said, oh yes, you're a card maker. In fact, more than most!

Don't sell yourself short Jo, lovely cards, made all the more interesting by the fabric and lace. When we were in England in September we visited Broadwindsor Craft Centre in Dorset and a lady there was doing needle felting among other things. SHe was taking good quality but plain wool coats and jackets and neddlefelting the most amazing designs on them! I tried one on but she had nothing in my size. My husband spent ages talking to her and still goes on about the technique, I think he'd like to give it a go!

Your robin card is very cozy (if that makes sense). I am the opposite of you -- if it's paper, bring it on, but fabric? sewing? Foreign concepts. lol :)
ReplyDeletesuch cute cards! how awesome of a job you are doing!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the way that everyone works their own favourite craft into Christmas. That is one of the reasons that I love looking at everyone else's desks. I learn so much from you all. Your fabric cards are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI love all your cards ...you are doing the right thing ...using what you are good at and turning the talent into beautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteI am so behind this week ...working backwards has thrown a spanner in my rusty old brain ...I think I will give up for this week ..only managed about 30 plus all my visitors. Thanks so much for dropping by xx
Great Robin card Jo, beautiful as always hugs x
ReplyDeleteAh Jo, you cards are lovely, Neet was right, seeing the Robin in close up is a much better idea - he's marvellous and I think you got the Victorian 'thing' perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThe Victorian Robin is simply beautiful - anyone would be very lucky to receive such a card; it's a present in itself!
ReplyDeleteFor being # 1 this week, I'm awfully late visiting. I'm so sorry but, after a computer crash, I had to stop by and get a bit of inspiration and was NOT disappointed. Love the felted bird and the gorgeous background, as well as the other lovely Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteI just blogged about your lovely dresses! Thanks so much. x
ReplyDeleteFabulous stuff going on and I do love your robin, it's beautiful! Sorry bit late blogger is being so mean!!
