Firstly - apologies for not managing to visit many WOYWW desks last week - I promise I will do better this week.
I had a couple of days with little Ben and the time just flew by.
Also I had a day crafting with buddies at The Quilters Trading Post near Audlem hence the picture above.
We each made a star block. I am hoping I can put mine on the front of a tote bag as I have just enough matching fabric left over to do it.
I am not a real quilter so I had to concentrate and make a big effort with accurate cutting and sewing (not my strong point). Pam, our tutor was really helpful and we managed to complete the block in about 2 hours.
The rest of our time was spent perusing the gorgeous fabric in the shop.
See Annie's blog A stitch in time for more pics!
We could have spent a fortune as it was all so lovely but I tried to restrain myself to just a few pieces for a little play mat for Ben.
Having just emptied and sorted all the
I am looking forward to getting back into action with some sewing. I think I have roman blinds for a friend and some dressing up clothes to do fairly soon so that will be fun.
I hope you are all well and looking forward to some warmer drier weather over the weekend. It's been flippin cold here today.
Have a great week.
x Jo
The time spent with little Ben is time you will never get again Jo so no apology needed...just enjoy every minute of it :-) Really love the quilt block you made and can't wait to see the finished bag.

Love your quilting. Saw Annie's earlier and am so glad you two managed to get some time out together doing something you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteBet you are loving being a grannie, Ben looks adorable and I bet there is a change in him since we saw the original photos. (hint) Enjoy!
Hugs, Neet 14 xx
Oooh, that's a lovely bit of quilting but the thought of having to be precise sends shivers down my spine!! I'm not good at that AT ALL! But I suppose it's good to have a challenge now and then! You did a blooming good job and it'll look great on a bag!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about not buying any more fabric - am determined to use up what I've got!!
Hugs, LLJ 23 xx
Your quilting is beautiful, it's a great thing to pass these colder days with. Lets hope the warm weather promised at the weekend appears, I don't like Autumn much lol

I dunno, I think you're a real quilter if you can make blocks with all those inside corners matching so nicely. :-)

I love your star block. There are a couple of quilting shows I watch, and it always makes me realize that just doing a block at a time would make it seem a lot easier to make a whole quilt, or even a little art quilt. So glad you got time with that precious grandbaby! Hugs! Sandy Leigh #34
ReplyDeleteprecious time with little ones!
ReplyDeleteI've just gotten a walking foot, and I am learning free motion sewing.
It's all your fault and I'm having such fun! Thanks!

Hello!
ReplyDeleteGreat block! I have such a hard time in a fabric shop - so many beautiful fabrics that I just want to own because of the color or print! Wishing you a happy day!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
Hello Jo - best thing ever spending time with grandchildren - priceless. Love what you and Annie have been making. Have a great week. Anne x #27
ReplyDeleteI've just come from admiring another of those lovely blocks at Annie's place! A couple of people have said they're going to try using Quark in the stroganoff instead of the cream cheese. Maybe that would work for you? Happy Wednesday to you xx

The weather here is great for the time of year ....actually we usually have pretty nice Octobers.... but...I'm keeping ahead of the garden stuff after last year when we got snow at Hallowe'en and almost every day after that ...til spring. I'm not getting caught out this year! My spring tidy out there should be soooo much easier in 2015,,,,,
ReplyDeleteOh what beautiful fabric! It would make a stunning tote bag!
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me peep over your shoulder.
Have a good week,
a hug and God bless,

That's lovely, Jo - thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful week. Chris # 16

Hi Jo, your patchwork block is lovely and will be perfect for the front of a bag. I don't know how you were so restrained in that shop - all those gorgeous fabrics would have had me broke in no time :) Lovely to see you've been having quality time with Ben ... he'll be a teenager before you know so best to make the most of him now :) Belated birthday wishes - may you have many more to enjoy. Have a great week, Elizabeth x #53
ReplyDeleteGreat patchwork panel. Saw some of the fabrics and they are gorgeous. I always find the term quilting a bit confusing as this is patchwork to me. I studied true quilting at college, English quilting, trapunto etc. but the word seems to have become a general term when people are actually making a patchwork quilt but not necessarily quilting.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy crafting, Angela x
Thanks for stopping by. Love your star block. You are so fortunate to have Ben so close, I miss my little ones so much. Been cold here too, added a blanket and turned on the furnace. I was hoping for more warm days to wear my capri's awhile yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful patchwork, Twiglet. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,

great looking block you made! I have never been much of a quilter although many in my family have. I guess I like more instant gratification I get with my paper arts etc. Have a great week. Vickie#76
