Well here we are again - where did last week go?
This what I was up to on fun day Monday down at Annies.
We are busy making quilts for the Lillybo quilt project.
Now you all know how we love to sew but can you believe, neither of us have ever made a proper quilt before?
So - after a lot of plotting, planning and decision making we sorted out our fabric stash.
Then we added a little more to it at the fabric sale on Saturday.
On Monday I spent the day joining little squares together. I know now why I haven't made one before!!
It is looking really good and I am enjoying it but it is slow going.
And here is my table today with all sorts of bits and bobs quilt related.
And at the front of the photo is a tiny box with a new little friend peeking out - I will show you more on my Friday post so pop back!
OK - short and sweet - I am going to pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground and see what everyone else is up to today.
Hi Jo
ReplyDeleteI should have known that you and Annie would be hands on in a super project like this one - love the way your quilt is coming along!
Happy WOYWW,
Hugs, Di xx #38
I know what you mean...I don't think I'm one of life's natural quilters...it is a bit of a struggle against type for me in that you have to be methodical and patient...everything that I'm not!!! But at least I know that about myself.....grin :)

of all the things I do patchwork is the one thing Niall says is completely pointless - cutting up cloth to sew it back together again, I promised him the next one I made woudl be more traditional and use existing scraps so he could understand the origins of patchwork craft! I am also determined to get him into an art quilt expo under false pretenses so he learns to appreciate textiles!

ReplyDeleteGosh Jo, (or should I say Jo 2Machines) these both look gorgeous...and I'm full of admiration..I sort of agree with Donna's husband but can't resist the finished items....soI guess I'm the one who loves patchwork but would rather buy than make! And the little friend in the box - too cute!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous quilt. I am always amazed at your creativity and such a worthwhile project.

It's so lovely to see all these blogs with quilts 'growing' on them as I travel around the WOYWWers. As a non-sewer it all looks miraculous!

Quilt looking good Jo. Not started sewing mine but I have made a start at cutting the squares (big-time trauma). I'm using a lot of blue in mine as well.

Well done! I love the fabrics in this quilt and how cozy it looks. What kind of sewing machine do you have? I've never seen that brand before--I am saving up for a combo sewing/embroidery machine, and I'm checking out the brands and the prices. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #104

ReplyDeleteI so admire quilters. The precision you have in stitching and cutting is wonderful. I don't even draw a straight line with a ruler.
ReplyDeleteWell there’s no desk pictures from me this week but I just wanted to stop by a few friends to see they were up to.
ReplyDeleteCan’t believe that with all the sewing you do that you’ve never made a quilt Jo. You’re doing an amazing job though and it’s for such a fantastic cause.
Happy Crafting!
Sue.

Quilt is coming along nicely! Lovely soft colors. I'm a bit late desk hopping... Happy WOYWW! Nan 107
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful quilt, to be loved by someone for their own. I did start some quilting a long time ago, with hexagons made from material that meant something to us. I really must finish that this year, as part of my finish UFOs this year. Have a good week. xx Maggie #11
